This past weekend at the Ladies Ball in North Carolina, the young ladies from two prospective clubs suited up to represent the state of Tennessee. The Stars Basketball Club and East TN Air Thunder competed to showcase what Tennessee girls hoops are all about. East TN Air Thunder brought home the crown in the 2025 and 2027 divisions, but all the girls who competed brought their A-game to the court and showed others around the country why we are the best women’s basketball state.
Our girls in this state are just built differently. Hardworking girls who do whatever it takes to win a ball game. We wear our heart on our sleeves and compete from tip-off to the final horn blows. There was a lot of exciting action being played in NC. We here at PGH Tennessee are very proud of the girls and their efforts as they laced them up. Good luck to the East Tennessee Air program as they get the opportunity to come home and compete for the crystal ball.
Here are some notable girls who competed and thrived at The Ladies Ball.
Anna Priest (5’6/ PG/ Farragut/ East TN Air/ Class of 2025)– Fierce competitor who has plenty of room to grow. Anna will contribute to her HS team coming up this season. She has an uncanny ability to see the floor. From getting to the rim to knocking down shots from beyond the arc, this young lady has a high ceiling.
Avary Brewer (5’7/PG/ Bradley Central/ East TN Air/ Class of 2025)– High motor kid who loves to play the game of basketball. Competing is in her DNA. Avary can shoot the rock from all 3 levels, distribute the ball on time, and play great defense. Look for her to contribute and grab some minutes as she suits up for the Lady Bearettes this upcoming season.
Lainey Brooke (5’9/PF/ Bearden/ East TN Air/ Class of 2025)– Great kid who contributes for her club in multiple ways. This young lady can finish in the painted area against contact, shoot the mid-range shot, and grab boards on both ends of the floor. Look for her game to grow tremendously as she gains more confidence and court time throughout the course of the HS season.
Elizabeth Flynn (5’10/ SF/ Ravenwood/ Stars Basketball Club/ Class of 2023)– Elizabeth was a beast over the weekend. She averaged a double-double every game including stepping up against some very stiff competition. This young lady is a multi-level scorer who can fill up the stat sheet in the scoring column. She has great footwork, that enables her to work through contact and finish her shots. She can put the ball on the floor and pull up, or set her feet and drain from beyond the arc. She is a team player with great size as she contributes on both ends of the ball. Look for this lady to attract the attention of coaches’ eyes her junior year while collecting accolades to compliment her efforts.
Brianna Burgess Brianna Burgess 5'10" | SG Creek Wood | 2023 State TN (5’10/SG/ Creek Wood/ Stars Basketball Club/ Class of 2023)– Great all-around ballplayer who just gets the job done. A solid kid who contributes in all three facets of the game: scoring, rebounding, and assists. Brianna is a go-getter who plays the game of basketball with poise. A multi-level scorer who shines bright when the lights come on. No matter the competition, Bri always shows up ready.
Anna Claire Milam Anna Claire Milam 5'9" | SG Dickson Co. | 2023 State TN (5’9/ SG/ Dickson Co./ Stars Basketball Club/ Class of 2023)– A lethal shooter from beyond the arc, AC can shoot the rock like nobody’s business. She won the 3pt contest in NC over the weekend, and the contest didn’t stop her production during the course of the games. AC is also a multi-level scorer, but her forte is from beyond the arc. With her toes a little behind that line, AC let’s that thing fly, hitting nothing but net. She contributes on both ends of the ball, providing her club momentum-shifting opportunities. An exciting prospect with a lot of room still to grow.
