Some schools do and some schools do not. Two schools in particular that have made it a great point to recruit the state of Washington in the 2022 class are University of Idaho and Eastern Washington University. It comes as no surprise that each of these schools have also picked up quality commitments most recently.
Lake Washington’s Star Guard Chooses the Vandals
5’7 Guard Rosa Smith Rosa Smith 5'7" | PG Lake Washington | 2022 State WA is one of the top guards in the state for the 2022 class. Her offensive skill set is crisp with clean footwork on her pull-up jumper and coming off of screens to catch and shoot. Smith can handle the ball against some pressure and has enough elusiveness to create her own shot. Smith should have a very strong senior season and she leads a Lake Washington team that is one of the favorites to win the 3A state title this year. Idaho is a good fit for Smith with the fact that they love to spread the floor and shoot the three ball in a pretty free flowing offensive style.
Twin Towers Committed to the Eagles
Coach Joddie Gleason took over the Eastern Washington program in the middle of May and she wasted little time making her target recruits known. Size was an instant target for the Eagles program that enters the 2021-2022 season without a single player above 6’1. While the roster will rely on versatility and guard play for year one, enter in the 2022 recruiting class that will feature multiple posts that will make an instant impact in practice and games. Two commits for the Eagles come in standing at 6’2 and 6’4 with both Cori Wilcox Cori Wilcox 6'2" | PF Lake Stevens | 2022 State WA and Camille Jentzsch Camille Jentzsch 6'4" | C Lake Stevens | 2022 State WA announcing their commitment within a few weeks of each other. The twin towers of this class also happen to come from the same high school, representing Lake Stevens. Wilcox and Jentzsch will provide a major boost in rebounding, inside defensive presence and scoring from the block.
Eastern Washington has also picked up a commitment from 5’9 combo guard Ella Gallatin Ella Gallatin 5'9" | CG Snohomish | 2022 State WA out of Snohomish High School, just minutes away from Lake Stevens High School. Gallatin has been a very strong performer for Snohomish over the last couple years and regularly puts up 20+ points. The Eagles 2022 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in the Big Sky as they focus on recruiting the PNW region aggressively.
