We’re back to the 2022 class in this article and while we’ve already talked about the top three players in the state, we have to finish up the rest of the top 10.
That continues in this article as we look at the fourth, fifth and sixth-best seniors in New Jersey for this coming season.
No. 4 – Ally Carman Ally Carman 6'5" | C Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ : 6-5 C, Red Bank Catholic
The Boston College commit is an absolute force on the floor on both sides of the ball and it starts and ends when talking about her height advantage.
Standing at 6-5, Carman has developed into one of the best shot-blockers in the country, let alone the state, and her interior game on offense is second-to-none. We’ve come to expect dominance with Carman and she’s lived up to the expectations in a big way.
Her senior season is her sendoff for college and she doesn’t have to worry about where she’s going. She’s already getting herself ready for ACC basketball next winter and spring, but with Red Bank Catholic this season, get ready for a monster year without a doubt.
No. 5 – Kiley Capstraw Kiley Capstraw 5'10" | SG West Orange | 2022 State NJ : 5-10 SG, West Orange
Capstraw is headed to the Ivy League next fall, a future Yale Bulldog, and she’s more than earned her place at the D1 level as she’s already a member of the 1000 point club for West Orange, having eclipsed that as a junior.
She nearly averaged 20.0 PPG for the second-consecutive season, barely missing out, and for the first time in her career, she posted a double-double average. Capstraw was clicking on all cylinders and then some for the Mountaineers.
The biggest things to watch out for this season are further development in her passing game as she’s already shown a great ability to assist, more consistency on the defensive end, and her lock-down perimeter shooting.
No. 6 – Antonia Bates Antonia Bates 6'1" | SG Rutgers Prep | 2022 State NJ : 6-1 SG, Rutgers Prep
Bates is going to keep the Rutgers name around her as next fall, she’ll be a future Scarley Knight up in Piscataway, but the new Rutgers Prep transfer has a lot to prove now in the New Jersey high school circuit.
At Notre Dame-Green Pond in Pennsylvania, she posted two-straight double-figure scoring seasons on the offensive side of the ball and standing at 6-1, she’s an excellent, mobile defender.
We’re really excited to now have the ability to cover her in New Jersey after the immense success she’s had in Pennsylvania, so we’re expecting continued and further success from her this coming fall.
We’ll have plenty more players to discuss, so stay tuned for more content from Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey.
