We stay in South Jersey with this next team preview, but venture outside of the Olympic Conference into the Colonial Conference and Haddonfield, the class of the conference in recent years.
The Bulldawgs have been led by standout guard Keegan Douglas, who just missed out on averaging 20.0 PPG in the spring. Douglas graduated this spring, so that is a big loss coming into this season.
However, if there is any team that has the ability to replenish and strengthen, it’s Haddonfield.
This was a senior-heavy group in 2021, so expect to see plenty of fresh faces and some returning faces to step up in a big way. For Haddonfield, that means Sara Smith is the go-to playmaker on this team.
Smith will be the lone senior for the Bulldawgs going into the fall, but she’s proven to be a fantastic player in her own right over the past few seasons.
With all eyes on her, that will mean more pressure on the floor, but expect her to average double-figures on the offensive end and some fantastic three-point shooting.
We’re going to see two big juniors have to take on much bigger roles this season in Brynn Bickel and Riley Mulligan. Expect them to fill up the guard position and push the tempo on both sides of the ball.
Both have significant untapped potential that will be unlocked in a big way this coming season, but it’s how they can adjust to more playing time that will be the key. We’re projecting them to both start, so they just have to grow into the role.
There is consistency that needs to be found with a roster that will be full of new players in a new system. These players need time to gel together and with a senior-heavy roster, that can be tough to come back from.
Haddonfield will still be a competitive team this season as head coach Jackie Mulligan has consistently produced a winner.
It’s how they get to that point of being a competitive team that we’ll be watching out for in a big way this season.
