Once again, the Myrtle Beach Sports Center was the site for this year’s festivities with many of the area’s premier hoopsters showcasing their talents. South Carolina’s Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo was one of several occurring across the country this previous weekend.
What do shooters do? They shoot and a number of them brought their long range games with them to the courts at Myrtle Beach. Who stood out? Here is a look at who turned in impressive shooting performances.
Skylar Smith Skylar Smith 5'8" | SG Hilton Head Christian | 2022 State SC – 2022 – Hilton Head Christian – Smith is looking to be a 4-time state champion this coming season for the Lady Eagles. Smith a off guard needs time and space to knockdown shots on the perimeter. Skylar tends to be shot ready to receive the ball and really likes to work the corners on the floor. Skylar plays every minute to the fullest when she’s on the floor. Can the Eagles win 4 Straight SCISA Class 2A State Championships ?
Vivian Bracebridge Vivian Bracebridge 5'6" | SG High Point Academy | 2023 State SC – 2023 – High Point Academy – Prep Girls Hoops last got a glimpse of Bracebridge earlier in the offseason at the hoops camp at Wofford College. A shooting guard entering her junior season, she is one who defenders cannot allow to have an open look at the basket. She will also get a team plenty of rebounds and knows how to find herself in the right place at the right time on the court. Bracebridge has also partaken in cross country throughout her athletic career. She is a major reason why the Grizzlies are a team to beat at the 1A ranks and that is sure to be the case once again in the 2021-22 season.
Karla Bracebridge Karla Bracebridge 5'10" | PF High Point Academy | 2025 State SC –2025 – High Point Academy – Speaking of the ballin’ Bracebridges…she was one of the many on hand in Myrtle Beach from the class of 2025 that really caught our attention. Versatility proves to be a key element for her game as she combines shooting ability with a talent for making plays as well near the low post. Bracebridge is effective at setting screens as well as bringing in rebounds in addition to scoring off those boards on the offensive glass. Along with her wearing Grizzlies colors, she has also played for Team Carolina Miller while on the travel circuit.
Kylee Kellermann Kylee Kellermann 5'7" | SG Philip Simmons | 2023 State SC – 2023 – Philip Simmons HS – Any team that has Kellermann on it will definitely be a threat from downtown. Whether that team is the Iron Horses, TMP 16U (her travel team) or the team she participated with at Top 250. While the long range shot is the bread and butter of her game, Kellermann will make efficient passes to set her teammates up in scoring situations and can showcase her ability to run with the ball in her hand as well as take care of the ball in traffic. Kellermann is fresh off a 2020-21 where she averaged 16.7 points per contest. Kylee showed some very promising point guard skills and had several assists throughout the day.
Sailor Rearden Sailor Rearden 5'6" | PG Socastee | 2023 State SC – 2023 – Socastee HS – The home of the Lady Braves is only a 17 minute trek to the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, putting this year’s PGH Top 250 Expo in Rearden’s backyard. Formerly of Low Country Prep, she is making a leap from the SCISA 1A ranks to those of Class 5A. Rearden can shoot and hit shots from anywhere on the floor – behind the arc or in the midrange game. She is also a threat to make plays on defense, including intercepting passes. In addition to her play at the state ranks, she has also shown out on the travel realm with Confidence Cougars.
