They can fill it up from deep and in some cases, from deeper than deep.
Summer Fergerson | 5-6 PG | Bridge Creek | 2022 | @FergersonSummer
Summer headed to our showcase only a few weeks after picking up an offer from Coach Hadley and Oklahoma Wesleyan. Watch her play for just a few minutes and you can see exactly why they are so high on her. Maybe it’s the Steph Curry-esque range. Maybe it’s the vocal leadership. Maybe it’s the tenacious defense. Maybe it’s all of that and more. Fergerson is a joy to watch, but in the vein of this article, she is an absolute BEAST of a shooter. In several games that I saw at the showcase, her defender had to quickly learn not to give her an inch of space because she would not hesitate to pull up and let it fly from seemingly anywhere – and make it. She is a shooter. Plain and simple – and very, very fun to watch play the game of basketball, which she will be doing at the next level soon.
Mar’kia Pratt Mar’kia Pratt 5'9" | CG Midwest City | 2025 State OK | 5-9 SF | Midwest City | 2025 | @MarkiaPratt
In an absolutely loaded 2025 class, Markia is starting to stand out. The more showcases I see her in, the more I realize that she is going to be a real problem in high school this season and for seasons to come. She already has very good size as an incoming freshman. She plays very good defense and is willing to do the little things to disrupt the other team offensively. I can definitely see her thriving at MWC. On Sunday I saw her absolutely light it up several games in a row. Even with a hand in her face, she can hit from long range. She also – very intelligently – used her ability to hit from deep to open up her dribble-drive as her defender rushed out to put a hand up. She put the ball on the floor and blew by her with good speed and finished strong at the rim. Pratt is definitely another one in the tremendous 2025 class to keep an eye on. I know I will!
Jayda Holiman Jayda Holiman 5'6" | PG McAlester | 2023 State OK | 5-7 PG | McAlester | 2023 | @Jaydaballislife
I almost hate to include Jayda on the “shooters” list because I don’t want to imply she is “just a shooter,” but I mean, none of these ladies are “just shooters.” Jayda is very, very far from it. She may have been the most well-rounded athlete that I saw on Sunday. When a player stands out in a game, I put a star next to their name in my notebook so that I will remember to write about them. If they stand out multiple times, they have multiple stars. Holiman is the only player with three stars. She was/is that good. She was absolutely everywhere on the court, on both ends. She broke ankles with her handles. She has next-level quickness. She plays defense at a higher level than almost anybody in the building. She is tough and strong and just an all-around great point guard. As far as shooting goes, yes, she can fill it up from long range, too. With a gorgeous lefty stroke, she lets the ball go nice and high and hits from long range at a very high percentage. It’s no wonder that our No. 19-ranked prospect already has a D-I offer from James Madison in her pocket. She is a superstar!
