Following a solid group of seniors graduating last season, there is a large void for players to fill to make up the talent loss in the conference. The group of talent coming up in the Flyway is a fun one to predict simply due to the amount seniors littered in the all-conference teams who will need to be replaced on those lists, and there’s no better time than the present to preview what could be in the Flyway.
Molly Johannes Molly Johannes 5'8" | CG Laconia | 2022 State WI -5’8 G-’22-Laconia: Johannes is a well-rounded player who is a big key to Laconia winning games. Offensively her game is mainly within the three-point line, and that’s ok. Her free-throw shooting leaves a lot of points on the table. She has the ability to get into paint and score but needs some refinement in that area of her game. Defensively she brings a lot of pressure. Earning over three steals a game her junior season, it will be a staple of hers again this season.
Ava Stachura-5’8 G-’23-Omro: A rising junior this season, Stauchura has a lot to prove. Offensively she didn’t have the best season offensively last season, but there is potential there if she puts it all together. She brings a lot to the floor even without the greatest offensive season. She rebounds extremely well for her position, and she does a great job at creating turnovers. Her best trait is probably her creation. Her assist numbers were near the top of the conference a season ago and hopefully, that continues.
Kiara Shea Kiara Shea 5'3" | PG Winnebago Lutheran | 2023 WI -5’3 G-’23-Winnebago Lutheran: Following an excellent season the Vikings are experiencing a massive roster overhaul. Almost half of the team they fielded a season ago has graduated. In order to defend their title, they need new faces to take a massive jump. Shea is one of the names that they will need to take that leap. Shea is a talented junior who played a lot a season ago will be asked to do more based on necessity. With the bigger role, she receives she is one to key on to see if she sinks or swims.
Braylee Freund-5’6 G-’22-St. Mary’s Springs: Freund is an interesting case simply due to her being a little bit of a one-trick pony. She is a high-level shooter in the conference. Her three-point percentage is a little off what I think it should be. Her free throw shooting would indicate she is better at shooting than other shooting numbers may say. With the small number of teams in the Flyway, she has the potential to pop a little bit if all goes right for her
