Every player, every parent, and every program has the desire to be considered and recognized as “number one.” Here is a look at some of the top players who can lay claim to that distinction:
2022
Aspen Johnson Aspen Johnson SF Seminole Ridge | 2021 State FL 2022 (Seminole Ridge HS) was in attendance and was a clear-cut choice for the best player in the house. She didn’t come for the number 1 spot. Aspen brought that spot with her. She has great handles plays with great speed. She can get to the rim at will and can finish. Aspen can also consistently knock down the jumper (midrange and long-range). Aspen has the entire package and stood out during the showcase.
Maya Williams Maya Williams 5'6" | CG St Thomas Aquinas | 2022 State FL 2022 (St Thomas Aquinas) was really solid during the camp. She didn’t force much, just let the game come to her. just took what the defense was giving and on several occasions knocked down the open three.
Paige McDonald Paige McDonald 5'11" | SF Cocoa HS | 2022 State FL 2022 (Cocoa High School) was one of the best defensive players at the showcase. McDonald is long and athletic. She runs the floor well and can jump out of the gym. She was dominant on the defensive end and was the best defender in the building. She recorded multiple blocks during the showcase, including a jump shot that was rejected out of the air from 3 feet away.
2023
Bre’asia Washington Bre’asia Washington 5'5" | CG Winter Haven | 2023 State FL 2023 (Winterhaven HS). Probably one of the most athletic players at the Showcase. Has a really good midrange game and is an exceptional rebounder for a guard. Has good handles and has the ability to blow by defenders. Everything she does is explosive.
Haley Lang Haley Lang 6'1" | SF South Fort Myers | 2023 State FL 2023 (South Ft Myers), long and athletic and has a high basketball IQ. Lang was very solid during the showcase and has the ability to rebound and put the ball in the basket from inside the paint. Lang showed versatility in her game with the ability to also shoot from behind the arc.
Emily Montes Emily Montes 5'9" | CG Palmer Trinity | 2023 State FL 2023 (Palmer Trinity) Had great handles and demonstrated good passing skills. Montes can shoot on the outside and drive to the goal. She has the ability to get her shot off in a multitude of ways. Montes is a really smart player and very competitive.
Kailani Lindsey Kailani Lindsey 6'1" | PF Wildwood | 2023 State FL 2023 (Wildwood Middle HS) was the most athletic and imposing basketball player at the showcase, and she had the game to match. The 6’1″ forward was strong under the basket. She showed some nice low post moves and had a nice midrange game. Lindsey also showed great versatility during one series when she grabbed a rebound, dribbled coast to coast, and threw a no-look “dime” to a player cutting to the basket.
2024
Leigh Ann Hanley 2024 (Carrollwood Day School ). At 6’1″ Hanley was one of the most physical players at the showcase. She showed very good offensive skills and was very impressive running the floor at her size.
Carmen Richardson Carmen Richardson 5'8" | CG Colonial | 2024 State FL 2024 (Colonial High School) was very impressive at the showcase. Richardson showed that she can put the ball in the basket and in bunches. At one point Richardson scored 5 consecutive baskets during the 5 on 5 scrimmage.
Chelsey Bryant 2024 (Foundation Academy) was impressive handling the ball, penetrating to the basket, and showed great leadership and competitiveness at the showcase.
Jamesha Card Jamesha Card 5'10" | PF South Broward | 2024 State FL 2024 (South Broward HS) was a force on the court. The 5’10 forward was very impressive during the showcase. She was very skillful in the paint. She attacked the goal with authority and power.
2026
Taniya Davis 2026 (Driftwood Middle School). There was a reason this talented 8th grader laced the sneakers up with the high school students. In one game the talented Davis blocked a shot, shot a three, recorded an assist, and finished a fast break with a euro step layup. Davis is a special talent and is one of the best 2026 players in the state of Florida.
