These girls have taken the next steps of becoming impact players for their clubs both on the circuit as well as in the school ball season. The years of waiting your turn are long gone, and the focus of these girls is obtaining collegiate ball status and winning a championship for their prospective schools.
As pre-season workouts rev up, the class of 2024 girls is ready. Ready for that ball to tip-off in November. They’re stir crazy, restless, hungry, just waiting to break out and compete. Right now, open gyms and training sessions must suffice, but this class is primed to Go! The 2024 class is one of the most dynamic and exciting classes we have in the state. Filled with special talent all up and down the board and in numerous positions, keep your eyes fixed on this spectacular class moving forward. These girls will accomplish a lot both on and off the court.
As the 2021-22 school ball season approaches, here are some notable stock risers from the class of 2024.
Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5'11" | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN (5’10/ CG/ Knoxville Catholic)– An exciting prospect who is a threat anywhere on the floor. This multi-level scorer is a bucket for her club. She has incredible poise with the ball in her hands, which allows her to see the floor and make the correct plays. Though scoring the rock is her forte, she comes filled with multiple ways to win a ball game. From being on the boards to defending, this girl has what it takes to go on to the next level. She has that “dawg” mentality and will do anything it takes to help her club win.
Imari Berry Imari Berry 5'10" | SG Clarksville | 2024 State TN (5’10/CG/ Clarksville)– One of the next best things to come out of the Clarksville area, Imari is an exciting prospect who knows how to utilize her size to her advantage. Offensively, she can shoot from beyond the arc, get to the rim, or even play down low against smaller defenders. Defensively, she uses her length to create havoc in passing lanes, which equates to turnovers and extra possessions for her club. She anticipates well and strikes quickly when it comes to stealing the ball away from her opponents. IB will be something to see, as she is always putting on a show for those who come to watch.
Alonna Poole Alonna Poole 5'11" | SF Oakland | 2024 State TN (5’11/CG/ Stewart’s Creek)– Has taken major strides in her game, garnishing looks from some big-time colleges. After hitting a growth spirit, this young lady isn’t done yet. Alonna is a multi-level scorer, who can break down a defense like no other. Spectacular in the transition game, she can slash her way to finish at the rim or shoot the mid-range jumper. She is a defensive juggernaut, who creates havoc the full length of the court. Look for her to continue on an upward trajectory throughout her high school career.
Bailey Boone Bailey Boone 6'0" | C Millington | 2024 State TN (6’0/PF/ Millington)– A walking double-double, this young lady just keeps getting better. She is coming into her own now, where she is learning how to utilize her length and strength as an asset. Bailey can be a beast on the defensive end, where she owns the paint by collecting rebounds and blocking shots. She has a high IQ and knows where to be at the right time and the right place. Offensively, she is great in the 2-man game, where she can know down mid-range jumpers, or finish in the painted area. Look for her to make a big impact this upcoming season.
Cleo Johnson Cleo Johnson 5'5" | PG East Nashville | 2024 State TN (5’5/PG/ East Nashville)– The little engine that could, is a fearless competitor. She is incredible with the ball in her hands. She has an amazing first step that allows her to get past her defender and finish at the rim or kick to an open teammate. She comes with great court vision and can dictate the pace and space throughout the course of the game. Though she can shoot it from deep, getting inside the arc is her bread and butter. Look for her to be one of the catalysts for her ball club this year.
Carlyn Burdette Carlyn Burdette 6'1" | PF Collierville | 2024 State TN (6’1/PF/ Collierville)– CB is a dynamic player who can stretch the floor. A PF who can knock down the 3 ball consistently, she’s a mismatch for her opponents. She can hit the mid-range jumper or even play with her back to the basket. Her ability to score the ball will garnish the attention of her opponents, which will free up other opportunities for her teammates. Defensively, she can block shots and contribute on the boards. Look for her game to flourish even more this upcoming season.
Annie Buisson Annie Buisson 5'6" | PG Brentwood Academy | 2024 State TN (5’6/PG/ Brentwood Academy)– This energetic kid is the heart and soul of her club. A coach’s dream, she wears her heart on her sleeve. This kid is selfless and has a high basketball IQ. She understands the ebbs and flow of the game and knows when to strike or slow it down. With the ability to see the floor, AB can dictate the tempo of the game. Her ability to knock down shots from both inside and outside the arc, makes opponents respect her game. Defensively, she’s a pest, doing anything she can to disrupt her opponents offense. Annie is a gym rat who will continue to get better. Look for her to make huge strides this upcoming school ball season.
