While PGH continues to be the trendsetter when it comes to finding the hidden gems, this week we talk about those players who have already become names that fans are familiar with.
Northwest Ohio Key Prospects
Brooklyn Thrash Brooklyn Thrash 6'0" | CG Elmwood | 2022 State OH , 6-0 2022, Elmwood
She is still uncommitted, and has a talent level for the next level. She is able to break her opponent down off the dribble to get to the rim, she has a powerful first step. She is deceptively quick leading to a solid defensive game with her active hands. She can find her open teammate, and is a solid passer. She can score from anywhere, runs the floor very well and can finish in transition. She also has very good range out beyond the arc. Moves up to #12 in the latest rankings. (pictured right)
Emma Pedroza Emma Pedroza 5'8" | PG Napoleon | 2022 State OH , 5-8 2022, Napoleon
She is the highest debuting senior in the latest rankings, landing at #30 in the state with a ceiling to go even higher in further updates. Emma (feature photo above) is such a solid point guard with the ability to be a natural leader. Was a key part leading Napoleon to a state title last spring. She returns with a game suited for the next level. Great handles and swag to produce in a variety of ways for her team. Good range, can score in a multitude of ways. Good court vision and will find the best shot for her team.
Brinn Hunt Brinn Hunt 5'10" | CG Toledo Central Catholic | 2022 State OH , 5-10 2022, Toledo Central Catholic
Brinn has a strong body and able to play well in the paint. She also has a good three-point shot and a very good basketball IQ. Solid handles and can get the ball to the right player. She can score off ball screens and attack downhill off reads. Brinn is also a solid defender. In transition, she has worked hard on her speed up the floor and has quickness guarding smaller quick players. She is a mismatch issue with her size. Jumps from the Watch List up to #35 in the latest ranking.
Riley Rismiller Riley Rismiller 6'3" | C Coldwater | 2023 State OH , 6-3 2023, Coldwater
Riley jumps a spot and lands at #5 in the latest 2023 rankings. Her game just continues to grow and has drawn the attention and offers from several D1 schools. She has great hands in the paint and finishes well around the rim with good footwork and a high ceiling. Handles the paint well defensively, able to rebound and push the break, and can block/alter shots. She has a high motor and continues to work. Night in and night out plays a killer schedule in the MAC, the best small-school division in Ohio.
Kylie Leibacher Kylie Leibacher 5'11" | SF Castalia Margaretta | 2023 State OH , 5-11 2023, Castalia Margaretta
Kylie holds multiple offers and rightfully so. She plays the game with an elite motor that devastates teams on the glass, plus she has a very good offensive game to match it. As of this moment, she is at her best around the rim, but she is showing signs of adding a consistent perimeter jumper. Currently ranked #14 in the latest ’23 PGH rankings. She just continues to get better.
Sinai Douglas Sinai Douglas 5'7" | PG Toledo Start | 2024 State OH , 5-7 2024, Toledo Start
She vaults up the latest rankings all the way from 15 to #3 where she has taken the game by storm. She had a breakout summer for Sports City U’s young team. Has an endless motor, is relentless defensively and is unstoppable in the open floor. She is a great floor leader and shined from the point guard spot, considered the best PG in the 2024 class in Ohio. She can get to the rim at anytime and finishes through contact. She showed a maturity which has elevated her game to another level. Sinai will also drop shots from the perimeter in clutch times.
Kendall Braden Kendall Braden 5'9" | SG Toledo Christian | 2024 State OH , 5-9 2024, Toledo Christian
Some say she could be the most skilled kid in this class, and the first thing you notice about her game is the ability to light you up from behind the arc. The most improved part of her game has been her defense, as she has put in significant time and commitment which has made her game even better. She is a crafty guard with good moves from the perimeter and can create easier shots for herself. Lands at #9 in the class.
Brooklyn Vaughn Brooklyn Vaughn 5'11" | SF Toledo Central Catholic | 2024 State OH , 5-11 2024, Toledo Catholic Central
Her game has really expanded with a good summer with Sports City U. She is a bigtime athlete whose speed and jumping ability make her a tough match up for her opponent. She is very aggressive on the defensive end on the glass. She runs the rim well and has a great first step going downhill. Solid 12’ range and is working to expand. Defensively can guard 1-5, getting several D1 offers. She currently sits #12 in the PGH ’24 rankings in a talented class.
Macie Miller Macie Miller 5'4" | PG Old Fort | 2024 State OH , 5-4 2024, Old Fort
Saw her over the summer at the Ohio Summer Showcase and she showed a lot of skill as one of the top point guards at the event. Macie has a bigtime motor while moving well without the ball, able to create shots. She has very good handles and able to control the tempo of the game. Good range, can distribute to her teammates and be a productive leader. She moves up to #27 in the latest rankings.
