Most of these players will be looking to build on their past success and help their teams make a deep run in the playoffs. Lets take a look at some impact players returning in Region 2-AAAAAA.
Kalyce Watson I 5’6 I SG I 2022 I Effingham
Watson has been a steady player for the Rebels over her career. She will be looking to provide leadership to her teammates this upcoming season. High Motor. Does the little things that do not show up in a stat book. Always running the floor hard and getting extra possessions for her teammates. She will be looking for a chance to help her Rebels team make the playoffs.
Madison Lee Madison Lee 6'0" | SF Statesboro | 2022 State GA I 6’0 I SF I 2022 I Statesboro
Lee returns as the reigning Player of the Year for Region 2-AAAAAA. She led her Statesboro team to a Region Championship and 22-1 record last season. Lee is a game changer with a high motor. Has the ability to score at all 3 levels and will play a major role in her team reaching deep in the playoffs and competing for a State Championship. Exciting player to watch on both ends of the floor. D-1 Prospect.
Bailey Gilmore Bailey Gilmore 6'3" | PF Bradwell Institute | 2023 State GA I 6’3 I PF I 2023 I Bradwell Institute
Gilmore will be looking to capitalize off a big summer on the travel ball circuit where she picked up a lot of offers from schools from all divisions. She has transformed her game and added an outside shot to her resume. Has the ability to dominate in the paint but also step outside to shoot the 3 ball. She will be a weapon for the Lady Tigers this upcoming season.
Shayne Jackson I 6’3 I C I 2023 I Brunswick
Jackson is the silent sleeper that has the ability to score in double digits on any given night. Has great size and great footwork on the block. Always keeps the rebound high and can outlet to her teammates for easy baskets in transition. Runs the floor well. Jackson will be a dominate force inside for the Lady Pirates this season.
Zoraya Thorton I 6’2 I C I 2022 I Richmond Hill
Thorton showed why she is one of the top post players in the region last year. She led her team most games in scoring. Has the inside/outside ability to score. Strong on the block and can finish through contact. Draws the double team which allows for open shots on the perimeter for her teammates. Plagued by injuries last season, she is looking to have a breakout senior season.
Alindria Dudley I 5’5 I PG I 2023 I Glynn Academy
Dudley had to play a significant role last season for the Lady Terrors due to injury at the point guard spot. Dudley maybe one of the fastest players in the region and one of the best defenders as well. She has the ability to blow by her opponents with her quickness. She has also been working on her mid range jump shot this off season. Dudley is one of the players who played significant minutes on the Glynn Academy State Runner Team, 2 years ago.
Elena Hairston I 5’6 I PG I 2024 I South Effingham
Hairston is the true definition of a point guard. Sees the court well and controls the game for the Lady Mustangs. When her team needs a basket or that extra burst of energy she always provided it. Has the ability to score at all 3 levels. She will be called upon to help the Lady Mustangs reach the state playoffs.
