I can’t be everywhere but by being in Louisville just under two weeks ago I made it a point to rush through my training and cover that event after being hired less than two weeks beforehand. Even if I didn’t see them play very much and didn’t write about them here I have already begun planning to see them play again somewhere this upcoming season.
Keep doing your part ladies. We will find you so that coaches can sign you.
Brooklyn White 2004 | 6-0 | Paris
White is a three-level scorer with tons of game who can shoot the three, the eight-to-ten foot jumper, the floater and had a great up-and-under move. This player should be ranked and will be the next time our rankings come out.
With her size and willingness to box out for rebounds she is a certain prospect. By improving her hand strength she will be even better at keeping ahold of more rebounds and be able to finish better through contact.
Rachel Shropshire 2004 | 6-2 | Franklin County
Shropshire has something that cannot be taught. Height and someone has been taught her how to use it very well. She is an out-of-zone rebounder and has the fundamentals to protect the ball so that no one else can steal it before she can get it to the Guards. With these fundamentals on her tool belt, the sky is the limit if she will continue to put in the work.
Beyond this, she exhibits lots of range as a shooter including nailing a corner three. This is a potential High Post Center of Stretch 4 depending on how she continues to develop.
Alli Stone Williams 2004 | 5-9 | Henry Clay
Williams is a ballhawk with a strong Inside-Outside game. She has an excellent three-point shooting form and goes to the boards to score off the putbacks.
She is also a capable ballhandler who finds the open shooter in transition and can get to the lane from the wing off the bounce on a middle drive. Once in the lane, she is a threat to score or dish off to a teammate.
Jayme Burks Jayme Burks 5'9" | SF Pleasure Ridge Park | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-9 | Pleasure Ridge Park
Burks is a strong-bodied player with soft hands making her very good on the catch in the post. She seals off opponents for rebounding position and gives great effort and second effort on the offensive glass.
I would have like to see her get a chance to post up but that kind of game can be difficult to display in this kind of setting.
Alana Smith Alana Smith 5'9" | SF Dupont Manual | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-9 | DuPont Manual
Smith made a great running hook/floater over a taller defender while I was watching and proved to be a solid loose ball rebounder. She also demonstrated her ability to penetrate from the key for pull-up jumpers in the lane.
Miyah Wimzie Miyah Wimzie 5'10" | SF Holy Cross (Covington) | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-10 | Holy Cross (Covington)
Playing in a sturdy knee brace Wimzie that suggests she is returning from injury proved she is not afraid to mix it up by diving on the floor for a loose ball. I look forward to seeing her play in a few months after having a little more time to recover.
Gracie Carrigan Gracie Carrigan 5'7" | SG Ryle | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-7 | Ryle
Carrigan is an unselfish player that runs the floor, pushes the tempo with the ball and will dive on the floor for a loose ball. I would like to have had more time to see her play. Hopefully, I will find her and the loaded Ryle team she plays for somewhere on the road this season
Aaliyah Hayes Aaliyah Hayes 5'8" | SG Covington Holmes | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-8 | Covington Holmes
Hayes has a long stride and stays low on the dribble to penetrate. She has a scorer’s mentality that led her to force her shot a bit too often during the brief period I was able to watch.
Gracie Brown Gracie Brown 5'4" | CG Dupont Manual | 2024 State KY 2004 | 5-6 | DuPont Manual
Playing for a typically loaded Manual team it can be difficult to stand out. But it also attracts Coaches and Scouts and creates opportunities to be seen.
Brown came to the Expo to show off her quick release three-point shot and free throw form with a good forward placement that gives her great range. She didn’t seem to be very fast but was able to overcome that with hustle and toughness.
