Katie Orf | CG | Izard County High School | 2024
Katie did a good job this game of running the show. As the point guard, she got the team organized in the half-court by making sure everyone was in position before starting the offense. She often used her voice and pointed out directions to her teammates. She also handled it in the open court and finished at the rim. Defensively while in a zone she continued to communicate with her teammates. When an opponent left her area she would alert teammates that a cutter was coming their direction.
Ava Lewis | CG | Izard County High School | 2023
Ava played a very aggressive game. She attacked hard off the dribble, especially going right. She finished against pressure and through contact. When she didn’t have the ball she could move well without the ball. Ava did a good job of reading her defender when coming off screens. She knew when to pop out or when to curl to the basket. Defensively she went hard after rebounds. She would grab the rebound and then push it up the floor looking to advance the ball with a pass to open teammates.
Emily Jackson | Post | Izard County High School | 2022
Emily played hard on the low block. She grabbed several rebounds and would keep the ball high and pivot to protect the basketball from her opponents trying to get a hand on the ball. Offensively she would grab the rebound put it back up with a soft touch at the rim. She would also post up on the low block with good position. She demonstrated her footwork by making a quick spin move baseline and finishing with a reverse layup.
Bella Huebner | G | Lead Hill High School | 2024
Bella had a lot of responsibility for her team. She was the primary ball-handler, playmaker, and scorer for her Lead Hill team. With the ball in her hands, she would go strong to the basket for the finish at the rim or shoot the short pull-up jumper inside the lane. Bella made spot-up three-pointers, handled the ball vs full-court pressure, played through contact on some finishes, and could knock down the mid-range jumper.
Amelia Fulton | G | Lead Hill High School | 2023
Amelia played hard on both ends of the floor. She was looking to be aggressive and in attack mode throughout the game. If she had it on the perimeter and the defense backed to far off of her she would make the three-pointer off the dribble. If she didn’t have the ball and the defense lost sight of her she would spot up ready to let it fly and knock down the open three-pointer.
