Single A basketball was previously looked at as subpar, but now they are making it known that they can compete with the best of the best. Here are some schools that should make some noise this year.
Union City High School (Union City TN)
This team is returning a majority of its roster, with a nice balance of veteran leadership and young energy that they can surprise some teams who are not ready to play. They are led by there go to player Amari Bonds Amari Bonds 5'9" | CG Union City | 2023 State TN . The 5’7 Junior has consistently been the go-to scoring option for this team, and if she gets hot the opposition can be in trouble. She has great touch around the basket, and has a confident handle in the open court. When you have a skilled and gifted guard that can catapult a subpar team anything is possible. If everyone buys in a state championship is definitely within reach.
Gibson County High School, (Dyer, TN)
The Lady Pioneers are looking to pick up right where they left off last season where they finished with a record of 33-2. This is a team where experience, talent, and intensity will all be present allowing for another championship run. The Pioneers are returning Reagann McVay, Micah Hart Micah Hart 5'7" | PG Gibson Co. | 2024 State TN , and Madison Hart Madison Hart 5'9" | PF Gibson Co. | 2023 State TN . Gibson County, finished 2019 as state runner-ups. With a big chunk of the team and players coming into their own, that chemistry will separate them for the pack and return them to where they were last year.
Summertown High School
The Lady Eagles ended the 2020-21 season as Runner-Up at the State championships, with a 29-4 record. Although, they graduated a bulk of their scoring this team will pick up right where they left off and display consistent play throughout the season. Summertown Lady Eagles are returning, Reese Wilson Reese Wilson 5'10" | PF Summertown | 2023 State TN and Katie Burdette Katie Burdette 6'2" | C Summertown | 2022 State TN who saw action in the championship game.
Coffee County Central High School, Manchester, TN
Coffee County Central, is looking to reload after losing its perennial all-district player Bella Vinson Bella Vinson 6'2" | SF Coffee County | 2021 State TN . The Lady Red Raiders are going to heavily rely on Jalie Ruehling Jalie Ruehling 5'7" | PG Coffee County | 2023 State TN and Elliana Chumley who both average about 8ppg. last year. This team will develop together, which will allow for some room to grow and players to take on new roles. Coffee County Central will win games collectively until someone is ready to take on the reigns of being the go to player.
