We checked out these games and saw some players that we believe are prospects and should or will be recognized by college scouts if they are not already on their recruiting boards. We will shed some light on a few players here who we believe showed out for us and the crowd and made it very easy to be seen as a prospect. In the first game Serra vs. Esperanza, you have a few players that we have talked about before, but they stand to be talked about again, cause they are game time performers.
2022, 5’7, PG/SG, Esperanza HS, Alyssa Kubo – This kid is very deceptive, she is gifted in the way that she can score of the catch, score of the bounce and can swing thru and get you off the dribble. She is very efficient and has a nice stroke on the ball, gets it off with a quick release. She is athletic and very good on the defensive side of the ball, she has many skills that make her very tough on the floor. She will be a top scorer in the near future, she shoots it very well.
2023, 5’5, PG/SG, Esperanza HS, Kaiya Mack Kaiya Mack 5'4" | PG Esperanza HS | 2023 State CA – Kaiya is a fiesty young point guard that comes off the bench for Esperanza and does not disappoint at all. The level is somewhat higher, because she is able to get into cracks of the defense and pass out to shooters or finish herself. Plays with a lot of confidence in her teams offensive set, which makes her pretty efficient on the floor for her coach and teammates.
2024, 5’11, PF, Serra (Gardena), Brooklyn Taylor – Brooklyn stood out cause of her size and agility on the court, she is agile and can run the floor and finish in transition, she has a nice touch down low and has soft hands. She is a tough power forward and she is a load to handle in the paint on the boards. She is gonna be a tough one for years to come, but definitely the one to watch this weekend, look forward to seeing her this coming season, she plays tough…
2022, 5’6, SG/PG, Serra (Gardena), Morgan Edwards Morgan Edwards 5'7" | SG Serra HS | 2022 State CA – stood out for her defensive ability. She’s a real solid defender on the wing. She has quick hands and get into the passing lanes. She applies strong pressure on the ball and is aggressive at all times. Offensively, she can handle the ball at times and make plays off the dribble. She’s a in the mold of a shooting guard. Can shoot with consistency from three and can get to the rim.
2023, 5’4, CG, Corona Centennial HS, Sydni Summers Sydni Summers 5'4" | CG Corona Centennial HS | 2023 State CA – Summers has also been playing for West Coast United on the AAU circuit and is a very solid guard prospect. I first saw her play as a freshman against Windward in the Southern Section Open Division playoffs and she was a huge reason why the Huskies made the game competitive. She’s a quick guard who runs the break well and finds her open teammates. She’s strong and uses her body to get into the lane and finish over the defense. Good shooter from three-point range. Good wing defender.
2022, 5’3, PG, Chaminade Prep HS, Kayla Cabaccang Kayla Cabaccang 5'3" | PG Chaminade Prep | 2022 State CA – Kayla is quick, strong, fiesty and mean on the floor, but she always shows her calm and cool demeanor that always is about making her team win games. She is nice on the pick and roll, she is can thread the needle with passes and also step back and knock down the shot from all three levels on the floor. She showed out this weekend and her solid play has deserved her (3) college offers as of now to various schools, she will play at the next level, but we just do not know where she will land, she is getting better each and every time we see her play.
