Continue ReadingI’m doing a sort of a switcharoo on this one as I’m mixing it up since some of this “new era” stuff definitely mixes me up yet it is what it is and I’m glad I’m still who I am so even though my ability to create on the court has faded, or has it, I’m still able to be creative off the court so let me drop some combos of interest
The Village School
Sydney Ward Sydney Ward 6'0" | SF The Village School | 2022 State TX and Tobi Ademuwagun Tobi Ademuwagun 5'11" | PF The Village School | 2023 State TX
Ward is heading to the University Of Pacific after this season yet her ability to drop the long ball from what seems like the Pacific over the years helped put The Village on the map but her being long and athletic, scoring off the dribble, and playing the passing lane certainly isn’t anything to be taken lightly. Ademuwagun is a certified #BEAST on the boards and a legitimate #BCS prospect from the 2023 class. I love how she goes after the ball off the rim, let me add #THROWBACK while she’s added the long ball to go with her multiple ways to finish around the basket
Houston Christian
D’Asia Thomas D’Asia Thomas 6'3" | PF Houston Chrisitian | 2023 State TX and Loghan Johnson Loghan Johnson 5'8" | CG Tompkins | 2023 State TX
Thomas and Johnson solidified #D1Lock status before Blue Star even knew who they were, that’s what I do, and calling them early makes me one who was copied from Columbus yet the addition of Johnson, the sleek scorer from the wing that can also score mid to long-range, to go along with one of the most powerful finishers in the state in Thomas, not to leave out her mid to long-range game
St Pius
Zachara Perkins Zachara Perkins 6'3" | SF Summer Creek | 2024 State TX and Shunteria Anumele
Perkins and Anumele are a couple of rising sophomores that are certainly going to help create some excitement for the Panthers this season. Perkins had a breakout freshman season as she ran the 1 and 2 and was dropping the 3 and sometimes 4 until I picked up the beat yet with the addition of Anumele who is going to give them another potential double-double player with explosiveness not only in the open court but off the dribble…
Pearland
Aryelle Stevens Aryelle Stevens 6'0" | PF Pearland | 2022 State TX and RyLee Grays RyLee Grays 6'3" | PF The Village School | 2023 State #17 Nation TX
Stevens is coming off a monster club season as she scored literally with players hanging on her back yet the senior who is a double-double waiting to happen, happens to have an incoming junior in Grays, another double-double waiting to happen, who was one of the keys to the success at The Village and another I locked in at #D1 before the copycats from up north. This probably would have been one of the best “trios” in Texas had Janae Tucker Janae Tucker 5'6" | CG Pearland | 2023 State TX not torn her ACL yet she and Grays will again be among the Caped Crusaders next season, Google it
Lutheran North
Jade Miller Jade Miller 5'6" | PG Manvel | 2022 State TX and Dalanna Carter Dalanna Carter 5'6" | PG Barbers Hill | 2023 State #30 Nation TX
Miller has been one of the most underrated guards from the area since, well forever but not by me as I saw her dropping 30 footers in the 5th grade and her club coach wouldn’t give me her name yet that ignorance didn’t stop me from getting it and she has continued to give it, especially on the defensive end while Carter is one of the most explosive scorers in Texas. The junior helped lead her team to a state championship (TAPPS-3A) last season and don’t be surprised if the addition of Miller doesn’t help them make another run
