Continue ReadingThe Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, Arizona on October 10th drew a lot of the top prospects from across the state and even across state lines! This event did a great job of showcasing each individual player while highlighting their strengths. The guard play throughout the entire expo was exhilarating during each of the six games and I did not leave disappointed once. Keep reading below for a sneak peek into what we were privileged to see all day long!
#18 Taylor Rosado Taylor Rosado 5'7" Los Osos | 2023 AZ
Taylor is a scrappy and athletic point guard (2023) that has super quick hands and feet. She displayed a lot of leadership ability amongst her teammates whether she was on the court or on the bench. Rosado constantly flew around the court on defense making sure that her presence was a nuisance to whoever she was near. No matter where #18 was on the floor when a shot when up, you could expect to see her pulling down the rebound.
#19 Alexia “Lex” Wilcox
Wilcox showed a lot of heart during the Top 250 Expo in Gilbert, Arizona this past weekend. She was the aggressor on both offense and defense and really made sure to play with a competitive edge that was fun to watch. Has the ability to guard multiple positions and read the defense well. Wilcox knows the game of basketball and was one of the only players in the gym that was not afraid to set up to take multiple charges.
#65 Allison Clarke Allison Clarke 5'10" | SG Rosary Academy | 2024 AZ
Allison was previously recognized as one of the players to make the First Team All-Tournament Team at the PGH Top 250 Expo – Arizona. It was hard to keep your eyes off of her when Team #3 was playing due to her ball-handling capability and driving ability. Clarke is a five-foot-nine point guard with a natural talent for the game. She is extremely versatile on both ends of the floor and can easily finish at all three levels. There was nothing but confidence coming from this sophomore superstar!
#72 Amaya Washington Amaya Washington 5'10" | SF Dream City Christian Prep | 2023 State AZ
Amaya is another player that automatically catches your attention when you walk into a gym. She is a long, quick, and very athletic junior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School that plays with a sense of poise. She can knock down the mid or long-range jumper and will finish with a beautiful follow-through. I saw her go out of her way multiple times to get herself into the best position to rebound the ball, no matter what side of the court she was on. Washington is a solid player that does the little things for her team.
#74 Mackenzie Nielsen Mackenzie Nielsen 5'10" Sunrise Mountain | 2023 AZ
Mackenzie Nielsen Mackenzie Nielsen 5'10" Sunrise Mountain | 2023 AZ is a shooter in every sense of the word. Do not give this girl any room or she will pull up from just about anywhere on the floor because there is not much that is out of her range. After seeing her hit a few three-pointers in one of the games, the defense started to catch on… so Mackenzie used an impressive pump-fake to get herself open and drive hard to the basket. That is when I knew this was a smart basketball player. Not only can she shoot the lights out in a gym, but she also talks on defense and makes an effort to encourage her teammates. #74 was fun to watch.
