Alone this conference has some of the most talented players in the conference. Last season the teams in this conference advanced well into the state tournament, although teams like Kimberly running in Germantown in the sectional final was unfortunate for them. These teams all have the ability to win games in February and March. These are a few players who have the ability to help their teams win games in the conference and in the postseason.
Allie Ziebell Allie Ziebell 5'11" | SG Neenah | 2024 State WI -6’0 G/F-’24-Neenah: Not only one of the best players in Wisconsin for her class, but Ziebell is one of the best in the country as well. She possesses a well-rounded game with two-way ability. She led the conference a season ago in scoring, at 19.8 points per game. She also rebounds well, pulling down 6.1 a game, she also creates turnovers as well, with 2.4 steals a game. Ziebell has begun her high school career extremely well and this season will look to improve to help the Rockets improve in the Fox Valley Association. With her sophomore season, it will be interesting where Ziebell’s game finds the most improvement.
MaKenzie Drout MaKenzie Drout 5'9" | CG Kimberly | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-Kimberly: Drout is a really interesting talent due to her wide range of scoring ability, and her chippiness in general. This season may be one where Drout really comes into her own. With the graduation of conference player of the year, Maddy Schrieber Drout will be given some more responsibility within the Papermaker offense. From what I’ve seen of her on film she has all the tools to be a good lead ball handler in an offense. She plays the pick and roll really well, she keeps her head up looking for the right passes, and when her defender goes under the screen she has no hesitation when pulling up for a jump shot. Personally, Drout is a player I’m keeping an eye on to see how well she does her junior season. I believe that there is another level she can reach and being more on ball may unlock it, she is already a Division 1 talent, but due to the unknown of her as a focal point, I can’t help but think she might take a sizeable jump.
Sammi Beyer Sammi Beyer 5'7" | CG Appleton East | 2023 State WI -5’7 G-’23-Oshkosh North: Beyer is a bit of an oddity prospect because her numbers just don’t tell the full story about how important she is. Her game is a lynchpin that helps her team’s offense immensely. Beyer’s ability to shoot will help any team she plays on, especially with really talented players. Beyer’s shooting gives space for players who want to put their heads down and drive. With her shooting, it’s hard to justify allowing her defender to help on drives and that opens up space that some players only dream of. Even though her numbers don’t jump off of the screen at you, but her ability is extremely important.
City Figlinski City Figlinski 5'9" Appleton West | 2023 WI -5’7 G-’23-Appleton West: Even though Oshkosh West may not have had the greatest year a season ago, Figlinski is a great example of how deep this conference is. Figlinski is a very versatile player who gets a little overshadowed because of how good the conference is. A player like her is really solid because she affects every aspect of the game. She can score off the dribble or on spot-ups, she rebounds her position really well for her size and she has the ability to create for others. Even with the struggle of her team a season ago, she was a shining light her sophomore season and it’ll be interesting to see where her high school career goes from here.
