There may be a bit of a bias against some of the conferences in northern Wisconsin, but it hosts some of the most talented players in the state. Now let’s take a look at some interesting prospects this upcoming season in the Great Northern Conference.
Julianna Ouimette Julianna Ouimette 5'9" | CG Lakeland | 2023 State WI -5’10 G-’23-Lakeland: Ouimette is one of the best volume scorers in the state, averaging 26.5 a game made her the second-leading scorer in Wisconsin last season as a Sophmore. She was absolutely sensational offensively, but her defensive counting stats are equally as crazy. She averaged 6.8 steals a night along with her offense so she was absolutely outstanding a season ago. With this coming season being her first as an upperclassman she has a chance to continue improving her all-around game. Something I would hope happens for her over time is to help her team continue to advance deeper and into the postseason where she can show a broader audience how good she is.
Alexis Frieboth-5’6 G-’22-Mosinee: Frieboth is a little bit hard to gauge offensively just because of the shots she winds up taking, but her defense is great for the level she is at. Averaging 4 steals a game a season ago makes her in the upper echelon of players when it comes to that stat. She may not have the efficiency numbers but she has a reason to be at least an eye on her this season to see if she takes a jump.
Kate Fitzgerald:5’8 G-’22-Mosinee: Another player from Mosinee Fitzgerald is the more offensively minded of her and Frieboth. Fitgerald has a knack for finding the ball in multiple ways. She rebounds well for her position, which can help her team play at a higher tempo. She has shot the ball at a respectable level, but there is still room for improvement. Overall she is a lot like her teammate where she has done enough to keep tabs on her because she has the experience and talent to make a jump.
Lily Fortier-5’9 G-’23-Lakeland: Fortier is a player who was very up and down a season ago. She was efficient in shooting behind the line. The main issue with her last season was sample size. She didn’t shoot it a ton but it went in quite a bit for someone who wasn’t shooting a lot. This season will be big for her because if her shooting is something to believe in that is massive for her.
