However, even the Warhawks didn’t finish last season with a perfect record. Their only blemish in their 29-1 record a season ago was to Brookfield Central in the middle of January. This conference has very competitive teams. This season many of those teams have aspirations of advancing in March. So let’s look at some players who will be key to their teams in making that happen.
KK Arnold KK Arnold 5'10" | PG Germantown | 2023 State #8 Nation WI -5’9 G-’23-Germantown: Arnold is one of the best players in the nation for the junior class, and when you watch her play it’s obvious. She has the ability on the ball to manipulate the defense in any way she wants. She creates her own shot in isolation at this level with ease, even against the best competition. She also has an excellent feel for where and when her teammates will be open and hit them at just the right time. The only “blemish” in her numbers a season ago was her three-point percentage, but I will explain that away by letting everyone know that that is probably due to the difficulty of the shots she takes behind the line.
Annika Pluemer Annika Pluemer 5'9" | CG Brookfield East | 2023 State WI -5’9 G-’23-Brookfield East: Pluemer is a well-rounded rising junior who makes winning plays for her team. She put up great numbers for a sophomore last season scoring over 15 points a game on relatively solid percentages. She also played at the Top 250 event and she was solid there. Pluemer is the kind of player that teammates love to have on their team because she can make life easier on them. A player who can score, pass, rebound, and play the passing lanes as a guard makes her a player who people should keep an eye on as she develops.
Ellie Corgaggio Ellie Corgaggio 6'0" | SF Brookfield Central | 2022 State WI -6’0 F-’22-Brookfield Central: As the only rising senior who made first-team all-conference Corgaggio will be under pressure to help the Lancers take the final jump to state. After being upset in the regional a season ago Central has a lot to prove this season. Corgaggio has all the ability a wing could ask for. She has the touch to shoot it well, and with her size, most players won’t be able to contest it. She can rebound when she commits to crashing the glass. She is also a solid team defender who plays well on that end with a good defensive structure.
Ally Timm Ally Timm 5'11" | SG DSHA | 2024 State WI -5’11 F-’24-Divine Savior Holy Angels: After a season where Timm showed a ton of talent, with inconsistency, it will be interesting to see her improvement this season. Her games reflect her inconsistency, in a matchup with Brookfield East she put up a season-best 23, and in the next matchup with them, she had 8. This level of up and down performance isn’t completely uncommon but will be a player to watch as she begins to fully figure out the high school game. She is very talented and it’s clear to see in her film but she has a lot of room to grow as well, the good news in that aspect is that she has three more years left of high school to improve.
