Outstanding players from this team included Alyssa Heath Alyssa Heath 5'7" | CG Mohave | 2022 State AZ , Jaden Atcitty Jaden Atcitty 5'5" | SF Westwood | 2024 State AZ , Danielle Villanueva Danielle Villanueva 5'6" Millennium | 2023 AZ , Natalie Scherzer Natalie Scherzer 5'7" | CG Chaparral | 2023 State AZ , and Hannah Strauss Hannah Strauss 5'8" | PG Perry | 2025 State AZ . Heath is a five-foot-seven senior guard from Mohave High School. She is a good ball-handler, consistent scorer, and a fierce defender. Atciitty is a five-foot-five sophomore guard from Westwood High School. Besides having a number of inside moves toward the basket, she is athletically-gifted and will only continue to improve.
Villaneuva is a five-foot-six junior guard who plays for Millennium High School. Her shooting touch includes three-point range and she can drive the basketball coast-to-coast. Scherzer is a five-foot-seven junior from Chaparral High School who has great court awareness and outstanding ball-handling skills. Strauss, only a freshman, is five-foot-eight and from Perry High School. For a freshman, she has a good jump shot with a number of inside moves around the basket.
Other members of team #5 included freshman Lucy Sanford Lucy Sanford 5'3" | PG Xavier College Prep | 2025 State AZ , one of four freshmen playing in the Prep Girls Hoops Expo 250 (the other three were Michaela Fairwell Michaela Fairwell 5'10" | SG Dutch Fork | 2025 State SC , Hannah Strauss Hannah Strauss 5'8" | PG Perry | 2025 State AZ , and Janessa Barcello Janessa Barcello 5'11" | C Sandra Day O'Connor | 2025 State AZ ). Sanford is a five-foot-three guard for Xavier College Prep. Molina is a five-foot-five sophomore who also plays for Cibola High School. Olivar is a five-foot-six sophomore who plays for Fort Thomas High School. Shaffer is a five-foot-ten senior who plays for Northridge High School. She is a strong rebounder and defender who also has a tireless work ethic. All of the players on each of the six teams at the Expo 250 have the opportunity to play at the next level whether it be Division I, D-II, D-III, NAIA, or junior college.
Feature players on team #6 included Morgan Escobedo Morgan Escobedo 5'4" | PG Pinnacle | 2023 State AZ , Ella Malee Ella Malee 5'7" | SG Hamilton | 2024 State AZ , Breanna Sommers Breanna Sommers 5'11" | PF Hamilton | 2024 State AZ , Sara Nakamura Miller, and Kaleigh Toenjes Kaleigh Toenjes 5'8" | PF Chandler Online Academy | 2024 State AZ . Escobedo is a five-foot-four junior guard who plays for Pinnacle High School. She has tremendous court awareness and is a terrific passer. Malee is a five-foot-nine sophomore guard/forward for Hamilton High School and has a strong work ethic as well as being a fierce competitor.
Sommers also plays for Hamilton High School and is a five-foot-ten sophomore. She has many moves in the paint and is an outstanding rebounder and defender. Miller is a five-foot-ten sophomore who plays for Xavier College Prep. Only a sophomore, she is going to continue to improve offensively and defensively as well as grow. Toenjes is a five-foot-eight sophomore for Perry High School. She is a hard-driving guard with a good mid-range jump shot and can also hit the three-point shot.
Team #6 additional players included Alexia (Lex) Wilcox Alexia (Lex) Wilcox 5'8" Az Compass | 2023 AZ , Emma Christiano Emma Christiano 5'4" Las Cruces | 2023 AZ , Kaitlyn Beall Kaitlyn Beall 6'0" | PF Dream City Christian School | 2023 State AZ , and Kathlyn Frost Kathlyn Frost 6'0" Sandra Day O’connor | 2023 AZ . Wilcox is a five-foot-eight junior from Arizona Compass High School. Christiano is a five-foot-four junior who plays for Las Cruces High School in New Mexico. Beall is a six-foot junior from Dream City Christian School. Frost is a six-foot junior from Sandra Day O’Connor High School. Each game, throughout the event, was competitive and all six teams played as if the game they were playing was for the state championship. Just about all the players competing in Expo 250 will be playing at the next level.
