Directors Candace & Mark Klemm have put together an elite & family-orientated AAU program that’s ready to compete with anyone. From the directors, parents, coaches, and to the players.. the family love is absolutely on show. Throughout the entire workout, Coach Scott Doyle made it important on explaining why he was teaching what he was teaching… and when he spoke, eyes were focused, and ears were opened.
The team is full of raw talent, stock risers, and girls who are ready to take that next step. Here is a quick overview of the Sun Badgers Elite AAU program
Hannah Laub Hannah Laub 5'11" | CG Waubonsie Valley | 2024 State IL | ’24 Guard/Stretch Forward | Waubonsie Valley
Hannah will be the focal point of the Sun Badgers ball club. The lefty is strong, versatile, and focused. Offensively, she’s a true three-level scorer who can legitimately average 15-20 without breaking a sweat. Her defense is equal to her offensive package, with her being able to guard any position on the opposite end. IQ, rebounding, and overall floor presence are a sight to see. Her potential is out the roof, and the obvious hard work she puts in will take her to new levels.
Ana Gerstung | ’24 Combo Guard | McHenry
“Ana is the on-court vocal leader of this team, when she talks they listen”. Director Candace had those awesome words to say about Ana, and I couldn’t agree more. Besides her shiftiness, knockdown shooting, and overall floor IQ… Gerstrung has the tools to be a game-changing combo guard. She’s a small guard but built to score through contact. Her vision and feel for the game… consistently create great plays for her team.
Talya Tillman Talya Tillman 5'11" | SF Kenwood | 2024 State IL | ‘24 Stretch Forward | Libertyville
Footwork. IQ. Strength. Tillman is a non-positional player but shows her elite skillset when she’s at the stretch position. She comes off quiet, but her game is not. From her patience, to her pace .. she can control the game from the paint to the arc. Her in any type of PNR play.. will result in a bucket or an assist. Talya is a starter.. but she will be a star.
Kaisje’ Pryor Kaisje’ Pryor 5'8" | CG West Aurora | 2024 IL | ’24 Combo 2-Way Guard | Oswego
“KP” is what her squad calls her, but her game screams Mini KC ( Kahleah Copper). During the workout, KP showed the skills of a true overall player. From her defense, fast break speed, and vision on the outlet passes, she’s completely locked in. Pryor can be one of the best 2 guards in her area. She has aggression on the drive, a fluid jumper, and a relentless defensive mindset. Her upside is high. I’ll be tuning in this year.
Molli Ward Molli Ward 5'10" | SG Carmel Catholic | 2024 IL ” | ’24 Combo Guard
Ward has every tool to be the best player on the floor. Shooting touch, court awareness, rim finisher, and overall IQ. She can knock down shots from any spot on the court, while also running and or facilitating the fast break. Her offense is special because she consistently plays at her own pace, no matter the situation. On the defense.. she’s a ball hawk. Whether it’s jumping pass lanes and or using her instincts to strip her opponents. Even after noticing all that, the one thing that stood out most… was her craving to learn more. Multiple times thought-out the workout she asked Coach Scott questions. These questions ranged but they were on how to be a better player and teammate.
Annika Manthy Annika Manthy 6'3" | C Hersey | 2024 State IL | ’24 Stretch Post | Hersey
Annika is the team’s elite rim protector. When you have a 6’4 agile player, who can and will block anything.. it takes a lot of stress from your teammates. Stress Relief, that’s what she brings to the table. (New Nickname?!) When the possession is switched and she’s on offense, you’re able to see her raw talent. A walking double-double on any given night. Points, rebounds, or blocks. She can grab double digits in those categories. The skillset to be a stretch post is high, and if she continues to put in the work she’ll be climbing to the top.
Rylan Foster | ’24 Guard | Mundelein
Quick learner, detailed player, rebound snatcher, and a KNOCKDOWN shooter. Rylan is a glue piece. She can play in any system, play with any player, and excel no matter where she’s at. Her hard work is noticed in her game. From rebounding to defense, she works and gives maximum effort on every possession. Even though she had a smile on her face from start to finish, (which is more important than most players think).. she’s as tough as they come. Strong, strong-minded, and determined. Those qualities cant be taught.
Niallie Evans Niallie Evans 5'3" | CG West Aurora | 2024 IL | ’24 Combo Guard | West Aurora
Heights no excuse.. and Niallie won’t give you one. She plays bigger than she is, but she’s well aware on how to use her height as an advantage. The girl is a stat sheet stuffer. Points, steals, and or rebounds. She can do it all. Off the ball is where she makes a huge impact. Constant movement does more than tire you out, it throws off the entire defense… and it seems Evans has picked that trick up. She keeps defenders on a swivel, which opens up nothing but positive plays for her teammates. She’ll be the spark off the bench that every team that wants to win… needs.
Maddie Friedle | ’23 Guard | Homeschool
Shooters shoot.. and if you leave Maddie open. Fix the net. She can stretch the floor with the best of them and that might be an understatement. She moves off the ball and is always looking for her angle. She’s a free agent but was more than kind enough to bring her talents to help the team workout. From start to finish she worked and played as if she was one of them, and that’s more than you can ask. Maddie is going to be a great piece to any AAU program needing to fill a spot.
Isabella Robinson | ’24 Combo Guard | Warren Township
Two torn ACLs?… Most players would be rehabbing and in bed trying to get away from the pain Not Izzy. After she was done with her homework, she got up, found an empty rim, and got the shooting around. I watched her put shots up, work on footwork, ask Coach Scott questions, and most importantly… encourage and smile with her teammates during water breaks. Though I didn’t get to see her in live-action, she’ll be a big reason I return to watch their practices. A teammate like that is what every program needs. Rehab and being away from the game is tough, mentally and physically but pushing that pain down and being there for your team is what sets you apart. I can tell from her shooting around on a limped knee.. what type of player she is.. a special one. The comeback will be real.
