After spending the morning watching these young ladies compete, it was difficult to narrow down the top overall performances. Everyone in attendance left it all out on the line and played their hardest. This event got me even more excited for the high school basketball season that will be here before we know it!!

Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo – Arizona: Second Team
#23 – Sage Begay Sage Begay 5'8" | SG Flagstaff | 2023 State AZ
Sage was like the energizer bunny for her team throughout the Expo. She was a fun player to watch that always had a smile on her face while she flew around the floor. Always made the necessary pass and was unselfish with the ball during each game. I loved the effort that she brought to the defensive side of the court.
#74 Mackenzie Nielsen Mackenzie Nielsen 5'10" | SG Sunrise Mountain | 2023 State AZ
Mackenzie was lights out from the start of the first game until the final buzzer of the last. Made constant effort to talk on defense during each game. I liked to see her pump fake and drive hard right after knocking down a couple of three-pointers early on. Skilled ball handler that makes smart decisions. Great player all the way around.
#72 Amaya Washington Amaya Washington 5'10" | SF Dream City Christian Prep | 2023 State AZ
Washington is long, quick, and extremely athletic. Those three qualities easily draw everyone in the gym to her when she is on the court. Being able to score at all three levels and guard multiple positions made her one of the most versatile players at the Top 250 Expo. Makes an effort when a shot goes up to put herself in the best rebounding position possible each time while still keeping her head up for the next best look. The game really seems to come to her with such ease.
#95 Michaela Lee Michaela Lee 6'0" | PF Deer Valley | 2023 State AZ
Michaela caught my attention right off the bat with her impressive inside post moves. All day long she was an offensive rebounding machine while also making sure to try to outwork whoever she was guarding and whoever was guarding her. Six-foot post that rebounds and finishes high at the rim. Able to find the open outlet quickly and will hustle back to get into position on defense.
#69 Breanna Sommers Breanna Sommers 5'11" | PF Hamilton | 2024 State AZ
Breanna may be a 2024 but when you see her on the court, you seem to look at her as a veteran leader. She brings so much passion to her teammates whether she is on the court or the bench. There was never a time that she wasn’t hyping up her team or running across the floor to help someone up. Other than her outstanding character, she is also a phenomenal player. She is a knockdown three-point shooter, a smart decision-maker, and a coach to her teammates on the floor.
