10 Versatile Sophomores In 21-22
In this article:
Having players with versatility on the roster is an instant advantage. We looked at 10 versatile seniors and 10 versatile juniors to keep an eye on during the 2021-2022 high school basketball season in the articles below.
Now we will look at 10 versatile sophomores to see this season.
Katelyn Baney Katelyn Baney 6'2" | PF Paw Paw | 2024 State MI (PF,
Baney will hit every statistical category in every single game. Just as easily as she will average double digit rebounds, she’ll drop probably 3 dimes a game as well.
Anaya Billups Anaya Billups 6'0" | PF North Farmington | 2024 State MI (PF, Detroit Edison)
Billups is a very versatile forward on a loaded DEPSA squad. Billups can score from basically anywhere on the floor. Speaking of anywhere on the floor, she can also defend all over the court.
Alie Bisballe Alie Bisballe 6'2" | PF Lake City | 2024 State MI (PF, Lake City)
Bisballe is versatile enough to play inside-out or outside-in. This makes her an absolute nightmare for opponents to match up against. She moves smoothly on the perimeter, but can also put her back to the basket and go to work.
Tayla Dillard Tayla Dillard 5'10" | CG Kalamazoo Central | 2024 State MI (SG, Kalamazoo Central)
Dillard is versatile on both ends of the floor. It almost doesn’t matter who guards her, she’s almost certain to have an advantage somewhere in her game. On defense, she’s long and athletic enough to cover multiple positions.
Faith Jungwirth Faith Jungwirth 6'0" | SF Lansing Catholic | 2024 State MI (PF, Okemos)
Jungwirth put her versatility on display at the first Flight Hankamp Open Run and at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250. She was strong and physical enough to establish position under the rim and get good looks at the basket. Jungwirth also showed that she could put the ball on the floor and straight line drive to the bucket.
Grace Lyons Grace Lyons 5'7" | SG Rockford | 2024 State MI (SG, Rockford)
Lyons deserves to be on this list. She just does a little of everything, and does it all well. This makes it tough for her opponents as you can’t just slow down 1 aspect of her game.
Jordan Popyk Jordan Popyk 6'1" | SF Novi | 2024 State MI (SF, Novi)
Popyk was one of the most impressive players at the second Flight Hankamp Open Run. I didn’t even like giving her a position, as she defended in both the paint and on the perimeter, all depending on her matchup. My prediction is that her versatility will play a big part in putting her on a college roster someday.
Gracie Shahu Gracie Shahu 5'11" | PF Livonia Stevenson | 2024 State MI (PF, Livonia Stevenson)
Shahu is a beast under the rim in a halfcourt game, but can also run the floor and make herself a threat. She gets a lot of good looks at the bucket from close to the rim and also has the ability to step out and bury a jumper.
Mckenzie Swanson Mckenzie Swanson 6'3" | PF Bloomfield Hills Marian | 2024 State MI (PF, Marian)
There isn’t much that Swanson can’t do in the paint. While she can play physical and out muscle opponents, she can also use superior footwork and movement as well. She’ll be a regular double-double performer this entire season.
Bri Thomas Bri Thomas 5'9" | CG Trenton | 2024 State MI (SG, Trenton)
Thomas can do a lot of different things on the basketball court. She can use her height and length when matched up with smaller guards, and then use her quickness and handles against bigger opponents.
