Continue ReadingSt.Mary’s Ryken is ready to get this new season under way. Fresh off an appearance at the DMV Super Scrimmage at Good Counsel, they have their usual heavy WCAC conference schedule and several high profile events. You can catch them at the She Got Game Event, The Rose Classic Super Jam, The Public vs. Private Challenge and the All About The Girls Holiday Hoops event. Here is a look at their rotation and key players…
Mekhia Chase, 2023, Guard
Mekhia is a shifty guard that plays physical in the paint and scores in bunches. She should be one of the top scorers in the WCAC this season as she has a well rounded arsenal and killer mentality.
Lourden Banks Lourden Banks 5'10" | SG St. Mary's Ryken | 2023 State MD , 2023, Guard
Lourden has excellent length and size for a guard. She’s a very good defender and has the tools to take that to the next level and become a real lockdown threat. Defenders had trouble keeping her in front of them because she’s fast and has quick first step. She scored in the paint and her three point shot looks good as well.
Carine Pinkney, 2022, Point Guard
Carine is true floor general. She is a good facilitator and a pass first guard with good instincts. When necessary she will go into attack mode and pull out a mid range pull up, step back one legged fade away or soft touch floater. She definitley has a nice bag of tricks. She’s holding two offers and is still open for more visits. She’s small but she can ball.
Mackenzie Mayo Mackenzie Mayo 5'10" | SF St. Mary's Ryken | 2022 State MD , 2022, Wing
Senior wing with a relentless motor. Scores off slashes to the hoop. Very active on both ends of the floor and looks to strap up on defense against top players every game.
Destiny Towns, 2022, Power Forward/Center
Another exceptional defender. A bit undersized for what she does but she led the WCAC in rebounding two seasons ago. Deceptively quick. Should be a solid contributor again this season.
Sydney Johnson, 2024, Power Forward
Yet another big Ryken can throw at you to move bodies around in the paint. Her offense is still emerging but she is a physical and strong defender who gobbles up rebounds.
Dakota Jones, 2022, Forward
Senior guard that brings hustle and energy every game. Poised player that will stretch the floor with her perimete shot and provide some leadership.
Soleil Kennedy, 2023, Forward
Soleil is a transfer from Wilson High. She will provide more depth in this frontcourt as she is versatile and play small and power forward. She is a threat from outside the arc and in the paint as well. She is another strong defender the Knights can count on every game.
