I was able to attend the event the final day on Saturday Nov. 27 and here’s a look at some additional players from the class of 2022 that I saw.
1. Tatum Tamashiro – Rolling Hills Prep
This was my second time watching Tamashiro play and she is a solid wing player. She is capable of playing both guard positions as well. She’s a good ball-handler who does a good job splitting the defense and getting to the rim. She does best with the ball in her hands and getting her shot but she has a little playmaking too. Shoots it well off of screens with a pull-up. She’s a good rebounder and she can lock up defensively too.
2. Ava Dominguez – Rosary
I’ve seen Dominguez play a couple of times now and she’s in the perfect mold of a stretch four type player. She can stretch the floor with her three-point shooting and she’s a great spot up shooter. She can also face up and shoot from either the midrange or three-point line She’s a good rebounder who follows misses and can finish at the rim. Her inside/outside game is something that should translate to the next level.
3. Taryn Johnson Taryn Johnson 5'11" | SG Cathedral Catholic | 2022 State CA – Cathedral Catholic
A University of Houston commit, Johnson is a strong wing scorer. She’s comfortable with the ball in her hands and she can get her own shot. She can blow past her defenders and finish strong at the rim. She can pull-up for jumpers in the midrange off the dribble or she can pull-up in transition as well. She also moves well without the ball, she can float to the three-point and is a pretty good catch and shoot player.
4. Kaylee Byon Kaylee Byon 5'6" | PG Rosary Academy | 2022 State CA – Rosary
A Utah Valley University commit, Byon is one of the best point guards in the Southern California area. She’s keeps that ball on a string and can dribble under defensive pressure. She does a good job balancing scoring and creating for her teammates. She can get to the rim and draw fouls to get to the free-throw line. A very good shooter off the dribble. She’s a good passer kicking out to open teammates when she draws the defense in the paint.
