This field features some of the best high players in Arkansas from all positions. You want good point guard play or post play, this tournament has it. If you want to see some great shooters, this tournament has it. In this article we will focus on some good point guard play. Check out point guards that really did a good job of running their team on day one of the invitational.
Josie Williams | PG | 2023 | Conway Christian High School
Of all the point guards that performed on the first night, Josie had the best all-around game. She did everything for her team. Josie showed great leadership by keeping the team calm when it looked like things might fall apart. She was a playmaker on several occasions, she handled the ball well, and was a scorer for her team (scored team-high 24 pts). She scored from 3, mid-range, in transition, off the catch, and off the dribble. She was no slouch defensively either. Josie worked hard on the defensive end making the offense work for everything they got.
Mia Smith | PG | 2023 | Little Rock Christian
Mia is a high IQ point guard that loves to run her team and get teammates involved. In the half-court she gets everyone organized and has great vision. She often drove not looking to score, but to be a playmaker for her teammates. In the open court, she will finish the play herself even if it’s against contact.
Marybeth Dyson | PG | 2022 | Bentonville West
If you looked up “tough as nails point guard” in the dictionary you would see Marybeth’s picture next to it. She took some hard falls during the game, but got up and kept giving her all. She was effective in transition with the ability to finish and she brings a lot of energy especially on the defensive end.
Alexis Rowe Alexis Rowe PG Jacksonville | 2022 State AR | PG | 2022 | Jacksonville High School
Alexis is a good athlete that is really more of a combo guard but she shared time at the point. She was a playmaker in the half-court. Alexis kept pressure on the defense by constantly trying to attack off the dribble. When she wasn’t attacking off the bounce she moved well without the ball, scoring off cuts to the rim. She also finished in transition against contact.
Chloe Clardy Chloe Clardy 5'9" | PG Conway | 2023 State AR | PG | 2023 | Conway High School
Chloe is one of the best scoring point guards in Arkansas. Defensively she was on top of the 1-3-1 defense and applied a lot of pressure to keep the opponent off balance. She did a good job of leading the break and looking to make the best play in transition. She scored in a variety of ways, off the dribble, catch and shoot, slashing, in transition, and off the dribble.
Kaidyn Beckwith | PG | 2023 | Conway High School
Kaidyn is a quick point guard with a good handle. Her main job was to get the team organized, push the pace, and look to make plays offensively. Defensively she really got after the ball handler. Her on-ball defense made the ball handler play at a speed they didn’t want to or make errant passes. She did a great job of commanding control of the team and setting the tone defensively.
Ereauna Hardaway Ereauna Hardaway 5'7" | PG Jonesboro | 2022 State AR | PG | 2022 | Conway High School
Ereauna is the best pure point guard in Arkansas. She possesses great vision in the half-court. Her ability to use her dribble as a weapon and get to her spots on the floor to make plays for others was next level. She often made passes to her teammates that lead them to being successful. She played with great pace and handled her opponents’ pressure with great poise and body control.
Jada Page | PG | 2023 | Parkview High School
I don’t know what Jada’s head coach told her before the game, but I’ll take a guess and say she told her to make Ereauna Hardaway Ereauna Hardaway 5'7" | PG Jonesboro | 2022 State AR work for everything she get. And that’s exactly what Jada did. She pressured the ball constantly. She defended full court, 3/4 court and picked up at half court. Jada is a quick athletic guard that brings a lot of energy and effort to the game and is going to fight until the final buzzer.
