Azzariah Styles Azzariah Styles 5'6" | CG Plant | 2025 State FL – Plant – 2025
Z was the biggest surprise for me on day 1. I had never seen her play or heard of her name, but I’m told she played on the boys side during summer ball. She’s a 5’6 freshman who is a combo guard that proved to be good combination with Tanner Strickland Tanner Strickland 5'5" | PG HB Plant | 2023 State FL . She’s a similar player to her as well: pesky defender, quick, and can score shoot it and score it a bit. She was the only Panther in double digits in their 1 point win over CDS. A lot of potential here, so keep your eye on this one.
Julia Miller Julia Miller 5'6" | CG Plant | 2023 State FL – Plant – 2023
I saw Julia play last year at Robinson, but this seems to be a much better fit even if she is coming off of the bench. She’ll work to get more playing time with her tenacity on defense, ball handling, and shooting ability. This was a nice transfer for Plant as one of the best shooters in the area. She was clutch at the end of this game to hit 3 FT’s to put them up one in the final seconds.
Jaela Davis Jaela Davis 5'7" | CG Brooks DeBartolo | 2022 State FL – BDCHS – 2022
Jaela once again did it all with 27 points, 6 assist, and 3 steals in their win over Boca Ciega. High energy, sharpshooter, and quickness are the first three things that come to mind when you see her play, but there’s a lot more to her game than that. Jaela distributed the ball and is always frustrating the other team with her defense and ability to draw charges. She’s hands down one of the best overall players in the area.
Alaina Williams Alaina Williams 6'1" | PF Brooks De Bartelo | 2023 State FL – BDCHS – 2023
I didn’t get to watch Alaina much before this tournament, but I was impressed and know she’s going to be a key piece as a high quality transfer into this program. Brooks has been needing size and she brings that with an ability to stretch it out, too. I like her touch around the rim and her guard skills are pretty smooth for standing at 6 foot tall.
KaYanti Burden – CDS – 2022
Here is the main reason that CDS was able to keep Plant for pulling away: Kayanti Burden. She finished with 14 points and showed nice length and the ability to score in bunches. Kayanti plays hard on both sides of the ball, and it’s no question that she’s a top guard in the area.
LeighAnn Hanley LeighAnn Hanley 6'1" | SF Carrollwood Day | 2024 State FL – CDS – 2024
Leighann kept CDS alive early with some big buckets around the hoop. She’s one of a couple strong inside presences for the Patriots that should get better as the season goes on. Once CDS gets healthy and starts clicking, they are going to be a tough matchup for anyone.
Jasmine Hernandez – Braden River – 2023
Braden River hoops looks a lot different without O in the picture, but they have a decent little squad if their guard play steps up to the challenge. Jasmine was huge in this game as the other bigs struggled in this one. She finished with 21 points on some strong finishes inside that helped her team get a good win over Gibbs.
Peyton Flournoy Peyton Flournoy 5'5" | CG Gibbs | 2025 State FL – Gibbs – 2025
Another great Freshman surprise from this shootout was Peyton Flournoy Peyton Flournoy 5'5" | CG Gibbs | 2025 State FL . Gibbs ended with a balanced scoring attack, but I was most impressed with Peyton. She’s really smooth with the rock, and didn’t look a step behind at all for being so young. Peyton ended her night with 11 points on some crafty finishes and a pretty stroke. She could be the best player in Pinellas County in upcoming years if she keeps at it.
Karimah Nix Karimah Nix 6'0" | SF Boca Ciega | 2022 State FL – Bogie – 2022
Karimah led her team with 19 points in the tough loss to Brooks. She’s long, athletic, and seemed to score at-will. Bogie is a lengthy team that will record a lot of blocks and steals this year. Karimah had three of those steals to go along with her impressive offensive performance.
Olivia Delancy Olivia Delancy 6'0" | SF Bogie HS | 2022 State FL – Bogie – 2022
Liv Delancy had 18 points, 5 blocks, and 4 boards after picking it up and bringing Bogie back into the game late. She’s one of the better uncommitted 22’s in the state who will continue working to market herself. She’s a strong, high IQ player that can play any position. Look out for them to challenge Clearwater in Pinellas County this season.
