Continue ReadingIt’s here. Tip-off week has finally come for the 2021-2022 season. This past Saturday saw numerous teams lace em up for one more final tune-up before tipping it off this Tuesday. PGH Tennessee was on site watching some games at both Summit High School and Independence High School. This play day had some highly touted prospects competing against each other. Some college coaches were in attendance to take a gander one final time before the start of the regular season. Here are a few notable standouts from this past Saturday’s contests.
Derriona Salter (5’7/ G/ Sr./ Hillsboro) – High energy player who has great court vision. Shoots the ball well from multiple levels and can put the ball on the floor to get to the rim. She will be one of the leaders for a very talented Hillsboro ball club.
Ni’Kiah Chesterfield Ni’Kiah Chesterfield 6'0" | C Oakland | 2023 State TN (6’0/ C/ Jr./ Oakland)– Possess great footwork in the painted area. She finished around the rim multiple times displaying different counter moves. Ni’Kiah was a bucket from the 15ft range as well. Look for her to help be one of the leading catalysts for a talented Oakland Lady Patriots club looking to go deep into the tournament.
Artasia Cole Artasia Cole 5'8" | PG Oakland | 2023 State TN (5’7/ PG/ Jr./ Oakland)– Really left her mark on this day for the Lady Patriots. She was able to get into the painted area to create for herself as well as her teammates. High tempo kid who likes to push the ball in transition. Has great court vision and possesses poise when she has the ball in her hands.
Annalise Malone (6’1/ C/ Sr./ Lincoln Co.)– The USC- Aiken commit was solid all day long. From finishing around the rim to stepping out and knocking down shots, she led her team in multiple statistical categories. Annalise will be looking to cap off her high school career with a successful high school senior year.
Laura Echols (5’9/ G/ Jr. /Creekwood)– Multi-level scorer who is a solid player. From handling the ball to knocking down shots, she is one of the spark plugs for a talented Creekwood team. Look for her to continue on an upwards trajectory as she competes this upcoming season.
Brianna Burgess Brianna Burgess 5'10" | SG Creek Wood | 2023 State TN (5’10/SG/ Jr./ Creekwood)– A scoring machine who is the ying to Laura’s yang. A multi-level scorer who shoots the ball at a high clip. Possesses great footwork and incredible court vision. Knows how to come off screens to catch and shoot or come off and one-dribble pull-up. Great kid who will be fun to watch this year.
Zyion Shannon Zyion Shannon 5'7" | CG Stewart's Creek | 2022 State TN (5’8/ CG/ Sr./ Stewart’s Creek)– Tennessee State commit who has great floor presence. Zyion can shoot the ball at a high clip from multiple spots on the floor. She’s a shift guard who can attack gaps to create for herself and her teammates. Look for her and her teammates to pick up where they left last year. They have some unfinished business to attend to.
Aalyah Del Rosario Aalyah Del Rosario 6'5" | C Webb- Bell Buckle | 2023 State #5 Nation TN (6’6/ C/ Jr./ Webb-Buckle)– Big presence on both ends of the floor. Scored the team’s first 11 points in game 1 on Saturday. New to Tennessee, Aalyah possesses great footwork down low. She can finish through contact as well as clean up around the glass from miss shots. Defensively, she is a vocal leader who can block shots as well as clog up the painted area. Look for her to be the anchor for a talented Webb-Bell Buckle ball club.
