Turkey Feast Classic Top Point Guards
The Turkey Feast Classic that took place in Little Rock, AR over the Thanksgiving break was one to see. We had teams from Arkansas and Louisiana battle each other. Not only were there some really good teams, but there was also some really good individual play also. In this article, I will discuss some really good point guard play from the showcase.
Carley Hamilton | PG | 2025 | Captain Shreve
Carley is an athletic point guard who loves to attack the defense off the dribble. She attacks well in the half-court but she excels in the open court. She uses her ball handling and speed to weave through defenders and make pinpoint passes to open teammates. Her attacking mentality kept the pressure on the defense and allowed her to finish around the rim or get to the line.
Janiya Tucker | PG | 2023 | West Memphis
Janiya is as fast and quick as they come when you talk about point guards. On the first day she had a slow start in the first half, but she really excelled in the second half to help lead her team to the comeback win. She constantly used her quickness and ball-handling to get in the lane to make plays. She made the three-ball when the defense backed off her and she got to the rim for the finish or to draw the foul.
Garin Freeman | PG | 2023 | North Little Rock
Garin is an athletic, lightning-quick point guard who can shoot the three and attack off the bounce. She keeps her team organized and the offense flowing with her calm demeanor and IQ. She does well in the half-court but really shines in the open court. Her speed and quickness make it tough for the defense to contain her as she finishes at the rim and through contact.
Amari West | PG/Wing | 2022 | Rayville
Amari was the playmaker for her team from several different positions. Her skill set allowed her to play multiple positions. She played the point and would slide over to the wing. Offensively she could push it in transition and make plays for herself or her teammates. She hit a couple of threes, took the ball strong to the basket, and played through contact.
Brilynn Findley Brilynn Findley 5'7" | PG Bryant | 2024 State AR | PG | 2024 | Bryant
Brilynn is a shooter that you have to stay attached to. Shooting is not the only thing she is capable of doing. Brilynn is a very capable penetrator and finisher at the rim. Her vision against the defense allows her to make passes to teammates that put them in a position to be successful.
Ashlyn Kimbel | PG | 2024 | Little Rock Central
Ashlyn is a quick scrappy point guard. She does a really good job of leading the team and you can tell the difference in how the team is run when she goes to the bench. Her quickness and ball-handling are a problem for opposing teams as she gets into the lane and makes plays for others. She’s unselfish and looks to pass first, but she can be more of a scorer if she chooses to be.
Kaidyn Beckwith | PG | 2023 | Conway
Kaidyn is another quick point guard with a great handle. She’s a sparkplug off the bench that applies good pressure defensively to keep the opposing offense off balance. Kaidyn gets the ball out in transition quickly with her speed and is always looking to pass ahead to one of her teammates streaking down the floor. She’s also a playmaker in the half-court and can make the occasional three-pointer.
