The Turkey Feast Classic featured some really great post and forwards. This article discusses 7 players that played well at the post or forward position over the weekend.
Amauri Williams Amauri Williams 6'3" | C North Little Rock High - West | 2022 State AR | Post | 2022 | North Little Rock
Amauri is one of the best post players in the state. She was limited in her playing time due to some foul trouble, but when she was on the floor you could definitely see her skills and ability. She has good hands in traffic, grabbing rebounds and catching passes. She set solid screens to get her teammates open and she was great at getting position on the low block. Amauri scored on the low block, off offensive rebounds, and she had a defensive presence by blocking shots.
Savannah Scott Savannah Scott 6'4" | C Conway | 2023 State AR | Post | 2023 | Conway
Savannah pretty much had her way during the game on Friday. She had limited playing time due to the lopsided score, but when she was in the game she displayed her ability to score in the lane, rebound, and block/alter shots. In the game on Saturday you could really see how much of an impact she can have on a game. Her size and inside presence was key to Conway winning. Her opponent had no matchup for her on the low block.
Lillian Jackson Lillian Jackson 6'0" | C Central | 2022 State AR | Forward | 2022 | Little Rock Central
Lillian is a natural forward but has to slide over to the post position to defend bigger players for her team. Despite this she still gives the effort needed to limit her opponent touches in the low post, offer help on penetration, and snag defensive rebounds. She possesses the ability to start the fastbreak if she gets the rebound. Her athletic ability allows her to run the floor and finish plays in the lane or score offensive rebounds in transition. In the half-court, she can attack off the catch and shoot the mid-range jumper, or relocate off penetration to get open for the catch and shoot.
Alexis Cox | Forward | 2025 | Conway
Alexis is a freshman that comes off the bench for Conway but she brings a unique skill set to her team. Like most freshmen that are thrown in the rotation at the 6A level in Arkansas, it can take a few games to get comfortable with your role. Alexis is starting to come into her own. She’s growing comfortable with the offense and her confidence is on the rise as she is starting to figure some things out. She can play both inside and out. Alexis can post up, be effective off the catch from the high post, run the floor and finish at the rim, and she can make the three. Defensively she gives great effort in Conway’s 1-3-1. She knows where she’s supposed to be and anticipates well.
Kalayna King | Forward | 2022 | Conway
Kalayna was a silent killer for Conway. She is a player that will play hard every possession and do all the little things. Offensively she shoots the three well enough that you can’t leave her open, she can attack off the catch and make plays for herself or for others, she crashes the boards hard from the perimeter, and she runs the floor well. You will look at the stat sheet at the end of the night and see she has filled the stat sheet with points, rebounds, assist, steals, and deflections. She will even do the things that won’t show up on the stat sheet like hustling after 50/50 balls.
Emileigh Muse | Post | 2023 | Bryant
Some people think in order to be a dominant player you have to score a lot of points. There are some people who are called upon to do that, but you also have those that are dominant in their role and that’s exactly what Emileigh did. Defensively she was able to snatch rebounds off the rim and limit easy points in the paint by her opponent. Offensively she could stretch the defense with her shooting ability. You couldn’t leave her open because she would knock down the catch and shoot three-pointer.
Zoe Manning | Post | 2022 | Captain Shreve
This post player has good size standing at 6’4. She did a great job of using her size to get position on the low block and calling for the ball. She made strong and efficient moves to the basket that allowed her to finish or draw the contact. Defensively she posed a problem for the offense. Her length made it difficult for the opposing team to score over her. If she didn’t get the block, her presence made the offense change or alter their attempt.
