Jaelyn Hagee-Carroll County-2023
Has nice size at 5’10, provided a scoring punch on a tough shooting night for the team. She knocked in some 3s when her team needed a bucket. She has nice form on her shot, catching in rhythm and was able to extend the defense beyond the 3pt line opening up the paint. Defensively, her length created problems for smaller guards. She challenged shots in the lane and got a couple blocks.
Cali Levine-Staunton River-2022
Tough first half shooting the ball, but that did not stop her from bringing the intensity on the defensive end, diving for loose balls and encouraging teammates. Cali also did a nice job finding open teammates for easy buckets. She didn’t get frustrated and in the second half her scoring picked up, she didn’t settle for 3’s instead utilizing the mid-range and drives to the basket. She knocked in one dribble pull-ups and drew fouls attacking the basket while maintaining the same defensive intensity.
Kendall Scott-Chancellor-2024
Scoring point guard, she was crafty with the ball and got into the paint with ease. Kendall can score from anywhere on the court, didn’t show frustration when her shot wasn’t falling. Didn’t force shots, looked for her opportunities within the flow of the offense. She will need to be a big time scorer for Chancellor this year. Defensively, she applied pressure the length of court and did good job not getting beat off dribble.
Jamiyah Henry-E.C. Glass-2022
High energy player, she played hard both ends of the floor all night. Defensively, she moves on flight of pass and on one play dove on the floor for a loose ball didn’t get it, but recovered defensively to get a steal. She scored 11 straight points for her team, knocking in three 3s in a row.
Jeriyah Osborne-E.C. Glass-2023
I loved the way this young lady celebrated her teammates. It seemed like the more success her teammates had shooting the ball the more excited she was. She was the first one to a teammate whether they made a shot, got a steal or deflected the ball. She guards the length of the court and her energy is contagious. Handled the ball well, shifty with a quick first step. She communicates well with her teammates, made good decisions in the lane and controlled the flow of the game.
Jada Morgan-Lord Botetourt-2022
Jada did a good job reading open spots on the court for easy baskets. She is undersized in the post, but that did not stop her from cleaning up around the basket. She runs the floor well and can guard positions 1-4 with her athleticism. Jada won’t do anything fancy on the court, but she will outwork you and never looks tired.
Grace Huffard-Lord Botetourt-2024
Very raw offensively, did not have her best scoring night, but that should improve as the season goes on. She did a good job keeping the ball high on the catch. She is a very good defender, she rotated well in the zone; on one play she covered high post rotated to the post for a block. She protected the paint, boxed out and rebounds well. She did an outstanding job all night of blocking and challenging shots without fouling. As her comfort on the offensive end increases her point production will as well.
