Continue ReadingMercy and Pallotti were set to participate in the Bullis Holiday Tournament but the event had to reduce the amount of teams due to covid concerns. The two schools decided to get together on a Friday afternoon on their own and it turned out to be an excellent game. These are two well coached groups and both teams had been impressive leading up to this contest. Pallotti jumped out to a 14-2 first half lead and things were looking bleak before Mercy’s freshman guard Milan Brown Milan Brown 5'9" | CG Mercy | 2025 State MD took over with 8 straigh points to make it a game.
The teams battled back and forth from that point on with Mercy controlling things at the end to hold on for a 53-46 win. Here is a look at some of the keys players in the game.
Milan Brown Milan Brown 5'9" | CG Mercy | 2025 State MD , Mercy, 2025, Guard
Milan made an impact on both ends of the floor in this one. She scored a game high 24 points while grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists. Milan is a superb athlete with a high basketball IQ and great instincts. She really motivated her team and they fed off her energy throughout the game.
Taylor Gilmore, Mercy, 2022, Guard
The senior provided steady play at both guard spots and consistently kept defensive pressure on Pallotti. She made good reads and dished out 4 assists to go along with her 7 points.
Olivia Liszt, Mercy, 2023, Forward
Olivia played a strong game, providing good interior defense and helping to break the press. She spaced the floor by moving without the ball and knocking down two big three point shots to help Mercy hold onto their lead. Her shot has good form and she looks comfortable letting it fly off the catch.
McKenna Carroll, Mercy, 2023, Center
McKenna turned in a solid game for the Magic, battling inside for rebounds on both ends of the court and providing some second chance points for her team. She provided strong defense in the paint and set some nice screens to get her teammates open. She chipped in with 7 points.
Mary Amoateng Mary Amoateng 5'8" | PG Bishop McNamara | 2025 State MD , Pallotti, 2025, Guard
The freshman point guard led her team in scoring with 18 points and also grabbed 6 rebounds. She competed hard throughout the game and came up with several highlight reel plays including two buzzer beating shots. She is a very confident player that does not get rattled and has been a big part of Pallotti’s early success this season. She gets her teammates involved but knows when to attack and get her own points. A smooth lefty with all the point guard intangibles.
Alicia Newell, Pallotti, 2024, Wing
Alicia was her usual productive self scoring 13 points, grabbing 9 boards and snatching 4 steals. She provided her usual stellar defense and created match up problems for Mercy all game.
