Each week we will release new articles about a handful of players that stood out above the rest. This article is going to be focusing on the talent that has been shown throughout the first week of December in the Arizona Class AA.
Demetria Dosela – Freshman – 5’10” – Miami High School
This five-foot-ten freshman for the Miami Lady Vandals has taken the 2A by storm! In just a handful of games played so far, Dosela is averaging 20.0 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, 6.5 steals, and 3.7 assists per game. These are only some of her first games ever played at the high school level and she is definitely not holding anything back. Demetria has helped lead her teammates to an undefeated 6-0 start to the season and their closest game so far was last night’s 9-point win over Arete Prep (12/15). During the game, Dosela went 2-2 from the three-point line and finished the game with 22 points, 12 rebounds (5 offensive), 4 assists, 4 steals, and two blocks. I believe that there is a lot more where this has been coming from and that she will be one of the top players in the state to pay attention to.
Gabriella Lopez – Junior – Bisbee High School
Lopez has started off her junior year with the Bisbee Lady Pumas strong with a 7-1 record to start the 2021-2022 high school basketball season. She is averaging 19.1 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.9 steals, and assists per game so far. Gabriella is a pure-bred scorer who will do what it takes to get the ball in the hole. She shares the ball well which is shown through her 27 assists and she is a big hustler which can also be shown through her 27 steals just up to this point in December. This little firecracker is going to be one to watch in the 2A this year.
Brianna Measel – Senior – 5’9″ – Valley Lutheran High School
Brianna is a five-foot-nine senior this season for the Valley Lutheran Lady Flames that has played up at the Varsity level since she was a freshman. This veteran combo guard is averaging 14.6 points per game so far this season to help lead her team to a successful 9-2 record in Mid-December. In just 11 games played, Measel has already brought in 161 points for the Lady Flames with a high of 24 points against Basis Phoenix to start off the year. This senior is a scoring machine and is helping keep her team right on track for a great season!
Shaylin Taylor – Senior – 5’11” – Benson High School
Shaylin is a five-foot-eleven senior this year for the Benson Lady Bobcats that plays a combination of shooting guard and power forward. She has played up on Varsity for the Lady Bobcats since she was a sophomore and is starting off her final year on the high school court strong. Taylor is averaging 14.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. She is also bringing in 3.9 assists per game and 2.6 steals per game. This multi-sport athlete has helped her teammates to a successful 7-2 record to start the year with her ability to hit the big three-ball and her hustle. Shaylin has one double-double game so far and was one rebound away from another on 12/10 against Empire (15 points, 9 rebounds). This girl is leaving it all out there on the court for her senior year.
Saydee Allred – Senior – 5’9″ – Pima High School
Allred is a five-foot-nine senior guard that will be stepping onto the floor for the Pima Lady Roughriders one last time. So far this season, Saydee is averaging 17.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game followed by 3.8 steals per game. She is the type of player that is going to fly around and make the necessary play at all times. Allred has already finished a couple of games with 20 points where she knocked down 4 three-pointers in each game. #22 can score at all three levels and isn’t going to hold back.
