PGH Byron’s: Top Standouts of Week 5!
A month and a week are complete… These girls have been playing steady and getting better every game!
’24 Kloe Froebe Kloe Froebe 5'8" | CG Lincoln | 2024 State IL | 5’9 Guard | Lincoln 33 points vs Effingham
A top-ranked and very talented guard. Kloe is just sensational. Her game is full of poise and maturity. Her skill set is elite and she can compete against anyone on a high level. With a lot of her buckets coming in the paint, she shows creativity and strength when attacking and can finish with both hands on both sides. From the mid to the arc and she will let them fly. Pull up off the dribble at the mid, and catch and shoot from the arc… it’s all the bottom of the net. Defensively, her energy doesn’t reduce a bit. She has quick hands, a balanced stance, and uses the correct hand when jumping the pass lanes. With being just a sophomore… the potential is scary high.
‘22 Abby Shepard Abby Shepard 5'9" | CG Beecher | 2022 State IL | Guard | Beecher 24 points (5-7 on 3’s) vs Illinois Lutheran
Shepard is a confident 3 level scorer. She can take off you the dribble and finish at the rim, pop and stop for a mid-range, or lace the three when given the opportunity. She shows creativity around the rim, with floaters, up and unders, euro steps, and or go coast to coast while switching directions with control and speed. Defensively, she’s always in the right spot at the right time… and when she gets the steal and hits the open floor… It’s a great decision every time, a strong and accurate pass or a bucket.
‘22 Callie Warlow | 5’9 Forward | LeRoy 21 points & 12 rebounds vs Lexington
A three-sport athlete who has the motor to contribute on both sides of the ball and all aspects of the game. She’s disciplined on defense… standing tall and using her frame and length to get blocks without swatting down. She also plays the passing lanes with patience, resulting in multiple games with high number steals. On the offense, she moves well and knows how to get to her spots. Behind the arc to let it fly or a great angle to take it to the bucket with confidence and strength to finish.
’23 Ciarra Richardson | 5’6 Guard | Trinity 32 points,4 assists, 7 steals & 4 boards vs Walter Payton
A high IQ guard who shows complete awareness on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she can create plays from any spot on the court. She’s aggressive when attacking the basket, but shows patience when playmaking. She sets and controls the tempo of the game, from start to finish. When on defense, she’s a ball hawk and plays the gap/help to perfection. She can disrupt an entire offense by just letting her instincts take over. Richardson is the perfect type of combo guard, a stat sheet stuffer.
‘23 Kylie Saathoff | 5’9 Forward | Manteno 26 points, 16 rebounds and 5 steals in a blowout 50 point with over Momence
A high-energy forward who just gets it done on the boards, offensively and defensively. Saathoff motor is non-stop, and she plays off pure heart. As the go-to bucket getter and last year’s Team MVP, Saathoff is continuing her dominance as the main battery to make this young team go. Kylie ended the night with more points than the opposing team… this kid is full of potential.
’23 Grace Vyborny | 5’11 Forward | Harlem 33 points & 21reb (18 in the 3rd Q) vs Freeport
Back to back games with a double-double, Vyborny has the skillset to play multiple positions on the court. High effort, high energy, and just talent that can translate to any type of offense. The frame of Grace allows her to be highly effective on the boards as well (both sides). She can pull them down and keep the ball high, or battle for multiple second chances. She’s full of upside and her game will continue to grow.
