Let’s dig in.
Natalie Decoteau Natalie Decoteau 5'10" | SG St. John | 2023 State ND – St. John – (5’10/SF/2023) – I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a million times over again, Decoteau is one of the best athletes class B has to offer. She’s so versatile that she can play the 1-4 on any given night and for any given team. She’s a walking bucket and hustle player. There’s no outworking her. Currently, she’s averaging a double-double with nearly 26 points a game and 13.3 rebounds. Let’s also add she’s averaging over 5 steals and 4 assists per contest as well. Decoteau makes up half of St. John’s points each night and this year has had a team-high 28 points against Mohall. Put her on your watch list and watch her go to work on the court. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Ellie Braaten Ellie Braaten 5'3" | PG Westhope-Newburg | 2023 State ND – Westhope/ Newburg (5’3/PG/2023) – Braaten is nearly 5 foot nothing, yet still gets the job done every single night. Regardless of size, Ellie has fantastic shooting abilities with handles and court awareness to match. It was a real treat this year watching Braaten and Decoteau battle on the hardwood even though they didn’t necessarily go at each other. In the feud, Braaten dropped a career-high 32 points coming up just short of St. John’s 67-71. Currently, Ellie is averaging 18.9 points 9.6 rebounds, and nearly 6 steals per contest.
Laikyn Roney Laikyn Roney 5'10" | SF Oakes | 2023 State ND – Oakes – (5’9/SF/2023) – Roney is truly a dark horse not enough coaches and players know enough about. She’s a phenomenal athlete being able to play the 1-3 spots and has great court awareness. Something we’d really like to see her add is a consistent jump shot to her game. With that addition, she would definitely be an all-state competitive scoring threat. Currently, Roney is averaging a double-double in 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She’s also a disruptive defensive player in stealing 4.2 per contest.
Kalyn Keller Kalyn Keller 5'7" | SF Harvey/Wells County | 2022 State ND – Harvey/ Wells County – (5’7/SF/2022) – Kalyn is the heart of the Harvey – Wells County Hornets squad. She’s a 2 level player for sure in her ability to attack the rim and shoot from the outside. She can occasionally find her own shot but mostly excels in coming off screens and low post options. She dropped a career-high of 30 points this year against Dunseith shooting good for 48 percent from the field. Currently, she is averaging 16.4 points 7.5 rebounds, and nearly 3 steals per contest.
Kimberly Tabarez Kimberly Tabarez 5'4" | PG Westhope/Newburg | 2024 State ND – Westhope / Newburg – (5’4/SG/2024) – The only sophomore on this list and second Westhope/ Newburg standout Kimberly can hurt teams in a majority of ways. This year she had a career-high thus far of 34 points against a solid Glenburn team shooting hot 65 percent from the field. Tabarez can flat out score the ball ripping to the hoop or off a set screen for an open jumper. When she’s on fire or cold you’ll surely know as she’s yet to find that common medium between the both. Currently, this year she’s averaging 16.3 points and 4.1 steals a game.
