Both teams traded baskets during the first quarter, which led to a 19-16 Bishop Fenwick lead into the 2nd. Bishop Fenwick dominated the game on both sides of the ball floor from that point on. They won 74-29.
Player of the Game:
Olivia Found Olivia Found 5'7" | CG Bishop Fenwick | 2022 State NewE – Bishop Fenwick – 5’7’’ – PG – ’22
It was a special night for Found, who entered the game needing 17 points to eclipse the 1000- point plateau, ended the game with 18. Found reached this milestone by attacking the basket relentlessly, getting to the free-throw line, and being aggressive in transition. She also has a strong off-hand, and the field goal that put her over 1000 points was a tough and-1 transition layup on two defenders. Found’s court vision and passing were almost as impressive as her scoring, as she consistently set up her teammates with easy shots throughout the game.
Bishop Fenwick Standouts:
Cecilia Kay Cecilia Kay 6'2" | PF Bishop Fenwick | 2024 State NewE – 6’2’’ – PF – ’24
Kay put together a solid offensive performance highlighted by a game-high 23 points. Around the basket, Kay was effective and got to the line a handful of times. She showed the ability to put the ball on the deck and make a scoring move from the high post. Kay also buried a couple of threes which put the exclamation point on her big night. I also thought Kay’s defense was good, too. She was active and aggressive when defending the perimeter leading to deflections. Kay also recorded a few impressive blocks during the game.
Nasha Arnold Nasha Arnold 6'0" | PF Bishop Fenwick | 2022 State NewE – 6’0’’ – SF/PF – ’22
Arnold only needed one half to show how dominant she was in the paint. Ten of her 12 points came in the first half, and Arnold was too big and strong for the Beverly defense to handle. She has great hands and made some tough catches in traffic while battling inside.
Maria Orfanos Maria Orfanos 5'5" | CG Bishop Fenwick | 2022 State NewE – 5’5’’ – CG – ’22
Orfanos was highly impressive on Thursday night, and her effort and high motor stood out the most. The scrappy guard wreaked havoc all night long with intense on-ball defense and physicality. Orfanos rebounded well too, and made sure to box out every time a shot went up. I liked how she pushed the tempo and transition and kept her eyes up, scanning the floor, leading to some nice assists.
