There were many talented ballplayers who participated in the tournament, including some Freshman players who had some impressive showings during the annual tournament. Some of these players have been instrumental in their team’s success from the onset of the season. With district playoffs right around the corner, the Gateway conference provided a pressure-packed atmosphere that will only prepare these players for what’s in store. Below is a list of some of the Freshman players who stood out during the Gateway Conference tournament.
Lamiyah Hogans Lamiyah Hogans 5'10" | CG San Jose Prep | 2025 State FL 2025 5’10” SG/F (Raines). Hogans (pictured on right) was very impressive on the court and is going to be a good one in the years to come. At 5’10, the Freshman does a little of everything on the court. She rebounds well on both ends of the court and she runs the floor very well. Hogans does a good job of handling the ball, especially in transition. Hogans has a nice jump shot and can shoot the ball at all levels on the court. During the Gateway tournament, Hogan settled for a lot of floaters, but she has the size to take it to the goal with force. With her size, length, and offensive skill set, she is going to be a good player in the years to come.
Joy Wright 2025, 5’10” F (Raines) Wright (pictured on left) played well during her spells in the Gateway tournament. She didn’t play an abundance of minutes, but when in the game, her presence was felt. Her athleticism jumps off the court immediately. Wright has that combination of power, size, and speed and she is going to be a force. She ran the floor well and did a good job of attacking the basket during her appearances on the court.
Nina Kamma-Hill 2025 5’3″ Guard (Sandalwood) has been impressive all year long and has some really great intangibles as a basketball player. The moment never seems to big for the talented Freshman and she has the game to go along with it. Offensively, she can score on all levels and does a really good job of getting to the boards. Kamma-Hill can shoot the ball from the three and is willing to take the shots at critical moments of the game. Through 16 games, Kamma-Hill Going has connected on 11 three-pointers. She has the confidence on the court and she is definitely going to be a player to reckon with in the years to come on the First Coast.
Kylie Johnson 2025, 5’10” F (Atlantic Coast). Johnson was very active in the Gateway tournament. Her activity on both ends of the court was really impressive. She crashes the boards hard for rebounds, dives on the floor for loose balls, and runs the floor in transition. Johnson also is a very smart player on the court and she makes the right basketball play consistently on the court. Through 14 games as a Freshman, Johnson is averaging over 7 points per game and close to 8 rebounds per game.
Terrannya Medlock 2025 5’10 G (Ribault). Medlock plays solid defense on and off the ball. She has very good length and she uses her length to deflect passes and play the passing lanes. At 5’10” Medlock is versatile enough to defend the 2,3,4, and 5 positions on the court. Offensively, Medlock has a nice long-range shot. During the Gateway tournament, she connected on a few long-range shots, including a baseline three-pointer. Medlock also has the ability to put the ball down on the floor and drive to the basket. She has a motor that runs all game long, and she hustles on both ends of the court.
Density Donaldson 2025 5’9 SG (Ribault). Donaldson has very good on-ball skills and can defend on the wing and inside the paint. She is very confident for a Freshman and not afraid of big moments and big ball games. Donaldson has a nice corner shot from long range. She also understands how to draw contact and finish at the rim in traffic. She will be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years.
