The Ponies of Kellyville played a great game and took home the 62-49 victory over a very young Tiger team. In the second game, Warner took on Hilldale with Warner coming out on top by a final score of 41-24 after holding the Hornets to just six points in the second half.
In the opening game of the nightcap, Bristow took on Tulsa CHEF in an extremely physical game that saw the Pirates secure a 50-41 win and move to tomorrow night’s championship game. In the second game of the evening session, host team Kiefer ran away from Ripley with a 60-34 win and remained undefeated on the year. They will face Bristow tomorrow evening for the championship of the Dave Calvert Invitational.
Quick Hits
Ayrland Jiles | 5-6 G | Central (Sallisaw) | 2025 – On a very good young team, Jiles may just be the best player. Dedicated on defense, she makes up for any inexperience on offense as a youngster with her heart and hustle. She finishes well inside and has a nice, consistent shot from deep.
Riley Cheek | 5-11 F | Central (Sallisaw) | 2022 – Riley was the flat-out hardest worker on the floor for the Tigers. As the biggest player out there, she was able to tally 26, the majority at the free throw line as she battled hard down low all game long. Cheek is a tough defender who rebounds very well, also.
Toni McGuire | 5-5 G | Kellyville | 2024 – Toni stood out from the outset as she scored the first basket of the game from an impossible angle and picked up the “and-1.” She later showed the ability to finish with both hands and that she can defend with the best of them. A standout star on the day!
Camryn Harwood | 5-5 G | Kellyville | 2023 – Harwood shot the lights out for most of the game as she ended the day with 22 points with four three-pointers. She has a nice stroke with a high release from pretty long arms for a shorter player. Camryn does a great job of getting set up and receiving the ball in a position to let it fly.
Nevaeh Johnson Nevaeh Johnson 5'11" | PF Hilldale | 2022 State OK | 6-0 C | Hilldale | 2022 – You always know what you’re going to get when you see the Briar Cliff commit play. She is going to outwork everyone on the block and rack up a ton of rebounds. She is also good for at least two blocks that are gonna have the crowd oohing and ahhing. She didn’t disappoint again today.
Catelin King | 5-6 G | Hilldale | 2024 – King stands out immediately when you see Hilldale pay due to her athleticism. She is a small guard, but long and very, very bouncy. She has smooth handles and showed a nice floater when attacking in the lane. With some development, King will be a definite prospect.
Alexis Fowler Alexis Fowler 5'8" | CG Warner | 2024 State OK | 5-6 G | Warner | 2024 – The sophomore class in Oklahoma is loaded with small school guards who can fill it up and Warner has their fair share. Fowler is flat-out baller who is tough as nails and plays outstanding defense. She was a large part of the reason for Hilldale’s low score.
Harlie Chesser | 5-4 G | Warner | 2024 – You know a player is going off when the referee has to point her out to you. Chesser scores from every single level and has an amazing shooting touch. Possibly the best player on a loaded Warner squad, she will no doubt make her rankings debut very soon!
Heaven Smith Heaven Smith 5'6" | PG Kipp Tulsa | 2024 State OK | 5-4 G | Tulsa CHEF | 2024 – I’m always hyped knowing I’m going to get to see Heaven play ball… and I was not disappointed. She is incredibly athletic, can jump out of the gym, and has the speed, change of pace, and handles of a Division-I point guard. She finished with 21 points and a pretty large number of steals and assists.
Ali Langley Ali Langley 5'9" | CG Tulsa CHEF | 2022 State OK | 5-8 F | Tulsa CHEF | 2022 – Ali took a beating in this game as the refs were determined to let these two teams decide this one on the floor. She is a tough player with good length and an inordinate ability to swat shots both inside and at the perimeter.
Addison Alexander Addison Alexander 5'4" | PG Bristow | 2024 State OK | 5-5 PG | Bristow | 2024 – Alexander is a great defender with good speed and quick hands who did as good a job as anyone could against the likes of Heaven Smith Heaven Smith 5'6" | PG Kipp Tulsa | 2024 State OK . She showed great handles herself and a tremendous shooting stroke. Addison had 17 to lead her squad to the victory.
Camille Pritchard Camille Pritchard 5'9" | SF Bristow | 2022 State OK | 5-10 F | Bristow | 2022 – I can see why several college coaches I know were lamenting Camille’s recent commitment to Temple College in Texas. She has always been a great player, but now as a senior leader, she has really stepped it up. A great rebounder, defender, and scorer, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her playing D-I in several years.
Kelsie McCollom Kelsie McCollom 5'7" | CG Ripley | 2022 State OK | 5-6 G | Ripley | 2022 – Senior guard McCollom was everywhere for Ripley against undefeated Kiefer. She has quick hands on defense and is completely unafraid on both ends. Kelsie is incredibly tough, especially on the dribble drive where she doesn’t care who is standing under the rim.
Brooklyn Howell | 5-11 F | Ripley | 2025 – It’s always nice to find new freshmen to rank and this one is going to be very, very ranked. She doesn’t move at all like a “big” as she lowered her shoulder from the free throw line and blasted toward the rim to finish strong. She also showed a nice midrange jumper. Definitely one to watch!
Hannah Coons Hannah Coons 6'2" | PF Kiefer | 2024 State OK | 6-1 F | Kiefer | 2024 – Hannah did nothing to make me rethink putting her in the top-10 of the 2024 rankings. In fact, she may still be too low. Coons can do it all. Swatting shots all over the gym. Double-digit rebounds. Great athleticism. Tons of points from multiple levels. The ability to handle the ball when called upon. She is extremely well-rounded!
Shayna Hendrix | 5-10 G | Kiefer | 2023 – A 5’10″ guard is always going to stand out, but when they can handle the ball and defend at the level that Shayna can you have to tweet about them during the game… which I did. She showed a tremendous change of pace that threw every defender who tried to guard her off balance. Hendrix scored a TON and I can’t wait to see more in the future.
