I dined and watched some good basketball for the last three days, taking Sunday off for rest and to have a good time in Stockton, CA. I commenced to tweet, post pics and videos on social media for the vast audience I have accumulated over the last few years. It felt good to be in the gym watching some top kids play basketball and now that I have come, I saw why some of the girls are High-Major (HM) in most peoples regard. The first day was three games and those were pretty exciting to say the least, here are a few scores and evaluations of girls that made us say, now that is a PLAYER.
Day One Scores:
Final Score: South Medford 56, Woodside Priory 48
Evaluations:
2022, 6’0, SG, Woodside Priory HS, Valentina Saric – This kid ended the game with 27 point and was 10/11 from the freethrow line as we watched her play. She was had a nice feel to her game, she took some shots for her team that we were impressed with, she was the leader and it was no denying it. She could knock down the three pointer at times and was an aggressive scorer, but we loved her tenacity on the floor, she really got after it on both ends of the court.
2023, South Medford HS, Donovyn Hunter – is a beast on the court, smooth, efficient and is one of the toughest girls on the floor as we saw it. She can score from all three levels on the court and she is a threat to score each and every time she has the ball in her hands. She has good size, tall and lanky and is one of the better defenders as well, loved watching this kid play this weekend, she is was fun to watch.
Final Score: St. Marys 56, Ontario Christian 46
Evaluations:
2023, 6’0, CG, Ontario Christian, Chloe Briggs – Chloe is the DIT (Do it All) guard that has some swagger to her game with anything she does on the floor. She will bring the ball up the floor, get a nice dime to a teammate for a score or take you to the rim or pull up and give you that smooth lefty turn around shot in your face. She has a good step-back shot that you cannot get to, cause her footwork is quick. She will even pull up from the volleyball line and drop one in your eye. Straight killer here as well.
2024, 6’0, CG, St. Marys of Stockton, Jordan Lee – Jordan is a monster in the paint, she is young so her game is well matured over the past years since she has been in high school. She is efficient in the paint and out to the midrange area, she is still developing that three, but the college coaches do not care about that, she is raw and skilled and they love her. I watched about 25 coaches talk about her during the game and they all said the same thing, she is a PLAYER, no question about it. Great size and one of the toughest kids on the floor. She can push the break, give it up and then relocate for the seal and finish.
Final Score: San Joaquin Memorial 53, Millennium 21
Evaluations:
2022, 5’9, SG, Millennium HS, Trayanna Crisp – Trayanna had a tough game in this contest, but you could still see she is a player, she is skilled, but SJM made her take some tough shots and she just did not make them. She is skilled at all three levels on the floor for sure and she is an all around player that most coaches are interested in. She has good size for a guard and is quick as any guard with the ball in their hands. We watched her play all weekend and she did a much better job in the next game versus St. Marys of Stockton.
2023, 5’7, PG, San Joaquin Memorial HS, Malaysia Williams – Malaysia is a crafty, smooth, quick and cerebral point guard for her team, she is cat quick and it is really hard to stay in front of her with the ball in her hands. She can get by you with a dribble and then stop and pop it or take it to the cup for a bucket. She can also pull up from three and knock it down in your face, but we love her overall game as a point guard and the way she sets her teammates up. Solid as they come for a point guard.
