Just 45 minutes north of downtown Orlando, is the Deltona High School Lady Wolves. Coached by Hjalmar Suarez and sitting at a record of 11-5 on the 21/22 season. I was able to catch the team play, and they are my Orlando area Headliners. On the season they have big wins versus Orlando Christian Prep and Flagler Palm Coast. With tough games ahead versus Winter Springs and Lake Howell. Here are a few players from the Wolves that stood out.
Bryanna Simmonds 2023 5’8” SF. Simmonds has a long frame that allows her to get to the basket at will. Shows off a plethora of moves using both the left and right hand. She is all over the defensive end of the floor, with a nose to the ball. The leading scorer for the Wolves, dumping in 11 points per game, while also snagging 7 rebounds per game. With another year to go for the Wolves, an added consistent outside jump shot will tremendously help her game. Twitter @2bry1
Paris Allen Paris Allen 5'2" | PG Deltona | 2023 State FL 2023 5’3” SG. Teaming up with Simmonds, Allen is the lock down defender for Coach Suarez. Aggressive with the on the ball defense, applies consistent pressure. She can take the ball off the dribble to the basket and finish. One of the many Juniors on the team that will be returning for the Wolves.
Shennel White 2024 5’3” SG. White, a feisty and gritty player on both ends of the floor. Runs down rebounds, uses her body to get into the correct position. She is constantly running the floor to be an option for a break. White is another option for Coach Suarez to handle the ball, and another Wolve that gets to the basket. Just a sophomore, I look forward to watching her development and skill improvement over the next few years.
Kaila Santiago 2022 5’5” PG. She is the point guard for the team and the second leading scorer with 7.7 points per game. Santiago, a fundamental point guard that played with poise and composure. She runs the offense, setting up Simmonds and White. Not yet committed. @kailasantiago03
