Detroit Edison – Yes, they are that good…..again. All the tools are there. They have a top 20 senior in the country in guard Ruby Whitehorn Ruby Whitehorn 6'0" | PG Detroit Edison | 2022 State #20 Nation MI and the most versatile player in the state in Madisen Wardell Madisen Wardell 6'0" | PF Detroit Edison | 2022 State MI . Let’s not forget about their elite young players. Na’kiya Bonner Na’kiya Bonner 5'6" | PG Detroit Edison | 2024 State MI and Devin Hagemann Devin Hagemann 5'6" | PG Detroit Edison | 2024 State MI could be a future high major D1 college backcourt.
Hudsonville – It feels like people are forgetting that they’re the defending state champions. They’re pretty loaded with stars like Jaci Tubergon and Maddie Petroelje Maddie Petroelje 6'1" | SF Hudsonville | 2023 State MI . Plus, don’t look now but mega athlete Alaina Diaz Alaina Diaz 5'7" | CG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI recently returned to action. Hudsonville will be in prime shape to make a playoff run.
Speaking of Jaci Tubergen Jaci Tubergen SG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI , she recently crossed the 1000 points scored mark.
How about Tecumseh? This is a program that could be dangerous for the foreseeable future. Alli Zajac and Ashley Moorehead are an elite type freshman duo. Add a high quality player like junior Chesney Wilke Chesney Wilke 5'9" | PF Tecumseh | 2023 State MI to the mix and you have some truly special potential for this program. Plus, ‘The Jungle’ might be the best homecrowd in the state.
Speaking of programs with a great future ahead. Check out this Lowell squad. They have one of the best players in the state in my opinion with Braxcynn Baker Braxcynn Baker 5'11" | CG Lowell | 2024 State MI . She has top talent around her as well with players like potential post star Piper Risdon Piper Risdon 5'11" | PF Lowell | 2024 State MI .
Nevaeh Williams Nevaeh Williams 5'5" | CG Mt. Clemens | 2022 State MI – In the last week or so, the star senior guard for Mount Clemens has made a case to be a finalist for Miss Basketball. She’s yet to be stopped, or even slightly slowed, on the offensive end. She’s have a record breaking season.
Edwardsburg – I’ve been really high on them this season. Players like Macey Laubach and Katie Schaible Katie Schaible 5'8" | PG Edwardsburg | 2022 State MI have had a huge influence this season.
Midland Dow – This squad can’t be overlooked. They are simply one of the best teams in the state. No player in the state has been more influential in their team’s success than Alexandra Kolnitys Alexandra Kolnitys PG Midland Dow | 2022 State MI . I’ll tell you this much, I hope that we get to see another Midland Dow vs. Hudsonville game. It would be worth the price of admission.
The class of 2024 is ridiculous! There are so many high quality prospects around the state in the sophomore class. Guards like Brook Simpson Brook Simpson 5'10" | SG Saugatuck | 2024 State MI and Gabrielle Reynolds Gabrielle Reynolds 5'10" | PG West Ottawa | 2024 State MI are are tough on a national scale. Post players like Katelyn Baney Katelyn Baney 6'2" | PF Paw Paw | 2024 State MI and Mckenzie Swanson Mckenzie Swanson 6'3" | PF Bloomfield Hills Marian | 2024 State MI are star players with huge upsides.
