In this article:
The second week of 2022 in prep girls hoops is in the books. Below is a look at players that were nominated for Player of the Week via Twitter or Instagram that had available stats for every game in MaxPreps. The poll is open through noon on Thursday (1/20), and you can vote once per hour using the poll at the bottom of this article. Here are the nominees:
Amya Patterson Amya Patterson 6'0" | SF Apopka | 2022 State FL – Apopka – 2022
Amya scored in double digits in all three of their games last week. Her most impressive outing was a 26 point performance in a win over Ocoee. She also had a double double with 10/10 against Lake Nona. Along with her 15.3 ppg on 46% shooting during the week, her team secured 3 W’s this week and sit with a record of 14-5.
Na’Haviya Paxton Na’Haviya Paxton 5'8" | CG Columbia | 2022 State FL – Columbia – 2022
Na’Haviya is a true playmaker, so it’s no surprise to see her put up a double double and triple double this week even when facing a box and one. They narrowly lost both games this week, but she put up 26 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals against Nease. She also had 22 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 10 steals against Orange Park. Columbia plays a tough schedule, so they will be battle tested come postseason time.
Sydney Gomes Sydney Gomes 5'9" | SG Nease | 2022 State FL – Nease – 2022
Sydney is one of the most prolific scorers in the state with 2,260 points and counting in her HS career which has made her the all-time leading scorer in St. John’s County. During the week, she posted 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists against Columbia in the start to a 3-0 week for the Panthers. In game two, she had 30 points, 8 boards, and 6 steals against Ponte Vedra. They easily won the third game, and she has 20 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, and 15 steals in limited minutes over Tocoi Creek. Her team only has three losses this year with two of those being against out-of-state teams.
Melody Womack – Bloomingdale – 2023
Melody had one of the most impressive triple doubles I’ve seen with 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 steals in a win over Alonso. The Bulls had a 4-0 week thanks to a balanced lineup. She had another strong performance against Palm Harbor U with 13 points and 9 boards. Melody plays hard for a Bloomingdale team that gives it their all every game.
Roksana Sajdak Roksana Sajdak PG The Rock School | 2023 State FL – The Rock – 2023
The Polish phenom posted two huge games with a 30 point, 13 rebound, and 7 steal performance over Buchholz. She followed that game up with another double double of 21 points and 10 boards against Hawthorne. The Rock has some really nice players, and Roksana definitely makes this team better when she in on the court.
Princess Hester Princess Hester 5'11" | SF Weeki Wachee | 2022 State FL – Weeki Wachee – 2022
Princess led the Hornets to a strong 3-1 week with her inside/outside presence. She carried the team in a win against Citrus with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 blocks. She also put up 16 and 6 in a tough loss to Lecanto, had 12 points against Springstead, and set a school record with 10 blocks in a two-point win over Hernando. She’ll be continuing her student-athlete career at Fort Valley State University next fall.
