POLL: Players of the Week Jan. 17-Jan. 22
In this article:
It’s time for the second edition of the Player of the Week poll, and I have five more people you can vote for to win.
Sidney Scruggs Sidney Scruggs 5'6" | PG Milwaukee Riverside | 2022 State WI -5’5 G-’22-Milwaukee Riverside
Scruggs broke Riverside’s single-game scoring record with 52 points. The senior added 13 rebounds and 10 steals to complete a triple-double. Scruggs is an uncommitted guard who has proven her ability as one of the best scorers in Wisconsin’s largest city. The senior has great scoring instincts, and she helps her team’s rebounding because Scruggs will do anything she can to win. Whoever ends up with her will be getting a player who can immediately help a team get better every day.

-5’11 G/F-’22-Appleton East
The Marquette commit began her week with a 26 point, seven-rebound, and four-assist game in a convincing win against Kimberly. La Chapell followed that up with a 50 spot against in-city rival Appleton West. The wing is as smooth as an offensive operator as the state has to offer, and that ability was on full display this week as she averaged 38 points per game. Doing what LaChappell did this week against teams with college-level talent is incredible.
Annika Pluemer Annika Pluemer 5'9" | CG Brookfield East | 2023 State WI -5’8 G-’23-Brookfield East
In a top-five Division 1 matchup, No. 3 Brookfield East played No. 4 Arrowhead. In that game, the Spartan shined. Pluemer scored 26 points in a triple-overtime win, which I was lucky to attend. What I didn’t expect was how big the Spartan played. Pluemer played in the center of the Warhawk’s 2-3 zone and found herself with one-on-ones with 6’3 A. Harper. In a handful of those matchups, the guard got blocked. That said, Pluemer consistently created space for herself and scored around the basket against a player over half a foot taller than her. She was incredible.
Lili Hartel Lili Hartel 5'9" | CG Mukwonago | 2023 State WI -5’9 G/F-’23-Mukwonago
Hartel quietly had an impressive week that began with an 18 point, seven-rebound, three-assist performance in a win against Waukesha South. The junior followed that up with an even better 25 point, five-assist, five-steal game against Stoughton on the road. The Mukwonago wing has made a name for herself on the defensive end. Now her offense is starting to come around. Hartel is one of the toughest perimeter defenders in the state, and this week she showed her potential as a two-way wing. If that continues, watch out.
Sadie Jarmolowicz Sadie Jarmolowicz 5'9" | CG Freedom | 2023 State WI -5’10 G-’23-Freedom
The junior guard had an excellent week that began with an 18 point, five-rebound, and three-assist game in a win against Oconto Falls. On Thursday against Denmark, she put up 27 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. The Irish junior is incredible at affecting every aspect of a game and is one of the most underrated guards in the state. If you haven’t seen her play, at least one stream, I highly suggest taking the time to see her play because she always makes the viewing experience worth it.
