POLL: South Jersey’s Week 5 Player of the Week
Week 6 of the 2021-22 New Jersey high school girls basketball season is about to get underway after what was a fantastic fifth week of action. If you don’t follow PGH NJ’s Twitter (@PGHNewJersey), we have just put out a poll for last week’s Player of the Week. Here are the four finalists in South Jersey for the Week 5 POY.
Alexis Davis Alexis Davis 6'0" | SF Woodbury | 2023 State NJ (Jr.) – 6-0 G/F, Woodbury
Davis has been one of the most electrifying players in the region for the past few seasons, especially this winter. She had a fantastic week, averaging 31.5 PPG and 15.0 RPG for the Thundering Herd. Along with that, Davis had 3.5 BPG and 4.5 SPG and has consistently been a dominant force in the middle. Since the season began, Davis has been a top five talent in the state and she’s getting better game after game.
Madison Clark (Jr.) – SF/PF, Haddon Heights
Clark has stepped up her game to a new level this season and it’s showed in the past week of games as the forward has averaged 15.0 PPG for the Garnets. She’s been the spark plug for Haddon Heights, who’s currently 9-0 so far this season. This has been a breakout campaign so far for the junior, who looks more confident and composed than ever in the middle. She’s now established herself as one of the top forwards in the Colonial Conference this season.
Carly Serlenga (Sr.) – PG/SF, Bishop Eustace
This was easily Serlenga’s best week of the season, capped off by a 25-point performance with a career-high six made three-pointers in a 47-22 win over Woodstown. Serlenga has knocked down 17 threes this season, 12 of which in the past week alone. She’s helped fuel a current three-game winning streak for Bishop Eustace who is looking to continue a great run of form in the Olympic Conference.
Amaya Burch Amaya Burch 5'7" | SG Timber Creek | 2022 State NJ (Sr.) – 5-9 SG, Timber Creek
Burch had her second-straight double-double of the season in a win against Highland and averaged 23.5 PPG over the week. After a fantastic spring season, Burch has continued that success into the winter in a big way for the Chargers. Despite being listed as a guard, she plays an aggressive style similar to a forward and has been one of the best rebounders in the Tri-County Conference. The senior is on pace for career-highs in her sendoff high school season.
