Continue ReadingThe championship game of the Skyline Tournament featured two teams that advanced to the Final Four of the state tournament in Leeton (Class 1) and Skyline (Class 3). As you would expect, it turned out to be a tremendous game with Leeton coming away with a 56-54 victory in overtime to remain undefeated at 13-0. Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top players from the Skyline Tournament.
Regan Shaffer Regan Shaffer SG Leeton | 2022 State MO (Leeton): The 2022 guard scored a team-high 22 points in the championship game to go along with six rebounds and three steals. She is very effective on the drive and she can go in both directions. She can also go through the contact to get buckets.
Miranda Quennoz (Skyline): A 2022 point guard who does a good job of getting into the lane on the dribble. She can back defenders down or beat them with a nice spin move. She has a good feel for the game as a playmaker who can make her teammates better. She also has a very effective pull up jumper on the move.
Justine Barb (Skyline): A 2022 forward who knows how to maneuver around the basket to get buckets inside. She’s active and she gets good position in the lane against taller players. She uses her body well inside to score and she gets her share of offensive rebounds for putbacks.
Bailey Fleming Bailey Fleming 5'9" | SG Leeton | 2023 State MO (Leeton): A talented 2023 point guard who has excellent court vision, which makes for some very creative passing. She is always looking upcourt when she gets the ball and will hit open teammates on the run with some accurate dimes. She can also shoot the ball as shown by her five 3-pointers in the semifinals against Fair Grove.
Rowan Schmidli (Leeton): A 2022 wing who had nine points, three assists and two steals in the championship game. She handles the ball well and can find the open teammate with her passing skills. She also scored on some nice slicing moves to the basket.
