Alivia Mauz (Fr.) – PG/SG, Williamstown
Mauz has quickly emerged onto the high school scene and is already dominating as a freshman. She’s one of the best pure scorers in the Tri-County Conference and is a fantastic perimeter shooter. Mauz has already shown a great deal of confidence shooting from three and she’s been consistently knocking down several a game so far. Mauz operates well from the point and knows how to command an offense. She’s a facilitator as much as she’s a scorer and on defense, she’s been one of the best overall defenders in South Jersey.
Rhochelle Johnson (Jr.) – G/F, Cinnaminson
Johnson is having herself a career year, thanks in large part to more aggression on both sides of the ball. She’s been a much more consistent scorer this season and has found herself with many more scoring opportunities. Johnson has been a starter or has had significant game time most of the season and she’s gaining more confidence by the game. It’s showing in her play big time as this junior is looking to be one of the go-to playmakers for Cinnaminson.
Kiersten Kennedy (Sr.) – 5-9 F, Delran
Kennedy has put a greater emphasis on her defense this season and its added another dimension to her game along with consistent offense. We’ve seen her play a much more active role in the middle and her agility has improved tremendously this season. Kennedy has been more aware and moves well on the floor. She’s become great at disrupting offensive sets for opponents and forcing them into bad shots. It’s been a breath of fresh air to see her forming into a multi-dimensional impact forward this season.
Jessenia Edwards (Jr.) – 5-7 F/G, Timber Creek
Edwards is a versatile player who’s gotten more time on the floor this season and is taking advantage of it. Her rebounding has improved and she’s much more aggressive when it comes to boxing out. That’s given her plenty more opportunities on the glass to grab boards. It’s also helped her spread the floor after starting fast breaks. She’s expanded her offensive game outside of the paint, but is still great at drawing contact. Edwards looks stronger and more mature this season and she’s been much more of an asset for the Chargers.
Sara Smith (Sr.) – G, Haddonfield
Smith has been a spot-up shooter her entire high school career and she’s gotten back her shooting consistency on the floor so far this winter. The senior drives well into the lane and finishes strong at the rim. Smith is both a consistent and efficient shooter and more opportunities are coming her way this season for Haddonfield. She’s excellent in off-ball movement and that’s allowed her in recent games to put up some big numbers. That will continue the rest of the way.
