13 Players Join Kansas 2022 Rankings

I am thrilled to be able to introduce the thirteen additions to the Kansas class of 2022 prospect rankings.  While I learned of several players who are not playing this season, the net number of ranked players now stands at 258 - an increase of ten.  A substantial amount of work goes into developing and revising player rankings.  To get an idea of how they are developed review my most recent article on the topic of rankings.  One thing I can say is I am always discovering players new to me.  Many on this list are new-to-me discoveries.  Enjoy this look the players, listed in rank order. Kate Ediger Kate Ediger 5'8" | CG Paola | 2022 State KS , 5'6", CG, Paola - Strong, tough, and competitive she is averaging 22.5 points through 12 games as of February 3.  Has a reputation as a great teammate and leader too. Ryen Lahey Ryen Lahey 5'10" | PF Olathe South | 2022 State KS , 5'10", PF, Olathe South - 1.27.22 - Lahey has a solid game and makes good use of her frame and length.  Just a good job of squaring and looking off the catch in the high post as well as off the catch while flashing.  Has a nice step through move in the mid-line area. She also can dribble slash through the mid-lane area to create a shot.  Lahey bangs well inside with opposing bigs. Abby Altic Abby Altic 5'9" | PG Fort Scott | 2022 State KS , 5"9", CG/SF, Fort Scott - Altic has a sold build, good transition speed with the ball and is a good perimeter shooter off the catch.  I would like to see a quicker release.  Altic is committed to play volleyball for Allen County Community College. Eva Peschel Eva Peschel 5'9" | PG Marysville | 2022 State KS , 5'9", PG, Marysville - Peschel is a fast, quick player with good hops and was a key ingredient to the team taking a quality 6A team to overtime at the Mid America Classic.  She was able to get into the lane and athletically finish with either hand. She was a leader in gathering the team's 15 offensive rebounds. For the event she finished fifth in rebounding (24). Harmony Shaw Harmony Shaw 5'9" | SF Fort Scott | 2022 State KS , 5'9", SF, Fort Scott - The athletic and fast Shaw has the ability to change gears in the open court with her head up and under control.  Shaw is able to create and pass off the bounce. Emerald Struthers Emerald Struthers 5'7" | CG St. Paul | 2022 State KS , 5'7", CG, St. Paul - Struthers is a quick player who has good transition speed.  She is also a solid threat on the perimeter.  Struthers will be taking her game to Neosho County Community College next year. Ella Schmid Ella Schmid 5'5" | SG McPherson | 2022 State KS , 5'5", SG, McPherson - When Schmid senses she can consistently beat her defender, especially if they are inconsistent laterally, it is going to get ugly.  Not only can she work off the bounce but she moves well in space off the ball and sets her feet well to knock down the three ball. Grace Gehl Grace Gehl 5'10" | SF Rock Creek | 2022 State KS , 5'10", SF, Rock Creek - Gehl is averaging 14 points and 7 rebounds for the Mustangs. Not only can Gehl score in the classroom (4.33 GPA, 32 ACT) but also from beyond the arc. Has a nice ability to shake a defender by selling an entry pass to the post to then quickly pop the perimeter shot. Livia Schultz Livia Schultz 5'10" | SF Wheatland/Grinnell | 2022 State KS , 5'10", SF, Wheatland-Grinnell - Schultz stands out with her 12.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.2 steals due to shooting 43% from the floor; 33% from three with 6 made; and 67% from the line. Schultz is a Colby Community College volleyball commit. Grayci Keeler Grayci Keeler 5'5" | SG Hutchinson | 2022 State KS , 5'5", SG, Hutchinson - Keeler is a fast, quick, solid, three point threat.

Avery Deters Avery Deters 5'7" | CG Centralia | 2022 State KS , 5'7", CG, Centralia - Deters is scrappy, has length and a solid frame, and has solid off ball anticipation. She also dribbles well in transition with her head up. Macy Hanzlick Macy Hanzlick 5'5" | PG Hoisington | 2022 State KS , 5'5", PG, Hoisington - Hanzlick just looks taller than her height.  Through 12 games she is averaging 12.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.9 steals. She earned Central Kansas League second team honors last season following a transfer from Wilson Zoey Stec Zoey Stec 5'5" | SG Maur Hill-Mount Academy | 2022 State KS , 5'5", SG, Maur Hill Prep-Mount Academy -  While I would like to see her a bit quicker and speedy she has three point shooting ability off catch, casual pull-up, and dribble back. Sets her feet well in every instance.  She plays some point and plays well in transition with her head up.  Has the athleticism to, as my colleague Phillipe McCree stated in a October 21, 2021 tweet, to shoot a "Nowitsky" off the drive across the lane.
