We compared them to small forwards and centers and saw how each athlete in our top 5 had a different play style. Today we’ll talk about the top 5 best centers from the class of 2022 and how each compares and contrasts with various playstyles and tactics that make them top of the class.
Terryn Johnson Terryn Johnson 6'1" | C Kindred | 2022 State ND – Kindred – (6’1/C/2022) – Johnson is a strong, physical player that loves to take other posts to the rim. Terryn has solid footwork for finding angles and that she wants and can finish with either hand around the rim. She’s currently the #2 rated prospect in the 2022 class and #1 rated center. Terryn is so hard to guard in the post, she has a beautiful looking mid-range game and can put the ball on the floor attacking the rim. Johnson is committed to playing at D2 Minnesota State-Moorhead for her college career next fall.
Rachel Dahlen Rachel Dahlen 6'2" | C Devils Lake | 2022 State ND – Devils Lake – (6’2/C/2022) – One of the best rebounders on this list Rachel is a handful to deal with in the post. She get’s a lot of her points off offensive rebounds and put backs. She’s such a physical player that she just tires other posts out from guarding her. She has such a balanced attack offensively with finding her shot on the court from mid-range to a soft hook shoot 5 ft. from the rim. Dahlen is currently committed to play her collegiate career at Division 2 Wayne State.
Ezura Rainbow Ezura Rainbow 5'11" | C Four Winds-Minnewankan | 2022 State ND – Four Winds/Minnewaukan – (5’11/C/2022) – Ezura had a stand out junior year which catapulted her in the top 15 for the class of 2022. She’s done nothing but impress us even more this year. Ezura is an all-state player for sure. She uses her large frame to create space amongst other post players and has such great strength for backing down her opponent or smoldering offensive players on the defensive end. Rainbow has great court vision and finds the open man consistently on fast break opportunities and has great stamina for moving up and down the court.
Jessica Walsvik Jessica Walsvik 6'0" | C West Fargo | 2022 State ND – West Fargo – (6’0/C/2022) – Jessica has such great tendencies on the offensive side of the ball. She’s not a player that is going to hurt you immediately, but consistently will score 10 a night off put back opportunities or solid footwork within the post working for positioning. Jessica has a great motor when running up and down the court and displays what every coach looks for in athletes and that’s a hard work ethic. Walsvik has a junk yard dog mentality of go and get the ball which puts her on this list.
Hannah Burtman Hannah Burtman 6'0" | C Divide County | 2022 State ND – Divide County – (6’0/C/2022) – Burtman has solid size and strength. She’s Divides consistent big man that sets excellent screens and rolls hard too the hoop. She’s put some work into her mid-range shot over the summer and it really shows when she sees zone defense having that confident mentality to let the ball fly from 15ft. out. Burtman has good footwork in the post and always fights for better positioning down low.
