The tournament was host to about 180+ teams and the girls programs were in full effect. The tournament host behind the scenes and the hardest working man in basketball is Quincy Quintero he has done a great job coming up with some key events. Here are a few girls we were impressed with this weekend, they were the ones that put in the work for our staff to see. Here are (5) more girls that we took a look at and they impressed us with their play during the event, this team is a newly formed California team and they showed out this weekend and had a good run, here they are as followed:
2022, 5’4, PG, Desert Oasis HS (NV), Elin Guzelcukuk – point guard with a good head on her shoulders, makes the right decisions and is a hard working player on the court in each and every play. She was able to get to spots for scores or dish off a great pass to teammates for easy buckets. She was solid with the dribble and made the right play every time down the floor. She also impressed us with some tough defensive skills and was able to keep her opponent in front and get thru screens set.
2023, 5’7, SG, Desert Oasis HS (NV), Hailey Manella – guard that can run the floor and score in transition with either a short pull up or get all way to the basket and score against contact. She had good size for a shooting guard, she was agile and quick and was a very decent defender as we watched. She could knock down the midrange and hit a few three pointers as well this weekend.
2023, 5’11, G/F, Chaminade HS (CA), Laila Carillo – slender guard with a nice game on her, she is tough, she is smooth on the floor and can finish at the rim in transition. She ran the floor like a gazelle and had good hands to catch and finish or to throw back out if she was being doubled. She could score in the midrange and around the rim, but she was an aggressive rebounder that was relentless under the boards for a few putbacks.
2023, 5’10, SF, Westchester HS (CA), Ron’Yae Jackson – runs like a gazelle down the floor and can finish with the acrobatic moves, has great hands and can finish with the best. Defends and is a good rebounder and was a catalyst for the team, as we said she was very agile and athletic, great size body for basketball and was the athlete most want to be. She could score it with some nice moves around the rim and was able to also stop and pop the midrange shot occasionally. She was very impressive, coaches pay attention to this one, she is special.
2023, 6’2, F/C, Desert Oasis HS (NV), Brooklyn Scurry – agile forward that can score from all three levels of the game. She showed us her old school game on the break and laid it off the glass with ease and precision. We love to see old school players, they are really impressive skill wise and there are no limits to their skill sets in most cases. She has a nice basketball body and knew how to use it, was one of the best players on the floor a most times and used her IQ to make plays for her team. She was well versed on the floor for her team and was a leader and you could tell it, good one here, pay attention to this one.
